It’s been 21 years since FRIENDS premiered. However, the daily struggles of Rachel, Ross, Chandler, Monica, Phoebe and Joey are timeless. This is the show that introduced us to the idea of “friendsgiving,” convinced us that everyone can find their lobster, and reminded us that even though “the real worlds sucks, you’re going to love it.”
College can be stressful. But even though you’re broke and your love life is DOA, these are still some of the best years of your life.
1. When you are moving into your dorm room.
Yes, Dad, I really do need all of this stuff, and I will find a way to make it fit.
2. When you are trying to make friends during orientation.
3. When the internet crashes during registration and you don't get any of the classes you wanted.
4. When you have 3 exams, a paper and a group project all due in the same week.
5. When you check your bank account halfway through the semester and question why you ate at Chipotle three times last week.
6. When you realize that you have been placed in the "Friend Zone."
It's fine. Who said I wanted a relationship anyway? I like being single.
7. When your mom asks you if you have been going to the gym.
Between my 5 classes, 2 labs, 3 clubs, volunteer activities, need to sleep and the desire to also have a social life, I didn't find time to make it to the rec.
8. When you arrive home for Thanksgiving...and remember what real food tastes like.
9. When your parents ask about your future career path.
10. When you realize that you are a hopeless romantic in a "Netflix and Chill" world.
Maybe one day I'll find my lobster.
11. When you realize that you should never sign up for an 8 am. Ever.
12. When your professor makes references to the reading that you chose to just skim, so everything sounds like...
13. When you are trying to find a dress for the next date party.
No, Mom. I cannot wear the same dress that I wore to formal last year. It's a rule or something like that.
14. When your professor says that he will not post the lecture slides.
This is the 21st century. Please learn to appreciate technology.
15. When you accidentally walk in on your friend and "a friend."
16. When you are trying to find a summer internship.
If someone could please hire me, that would be fabulous.
17. When you fail a test that you thought you got an A on.
18. When someone complains about getting an A-, and you were just happy to pass.
19. When you and your roommate go to a party together.
20. When you walk out of your last exam and reflect back on the semester.
Sure, college is stressful. You will definitely spend many hours in the library, and you will probably fail an exam at some point. The food is mediocre at best and the living accommodations are sub par. But, as long as you have friends who will be there for you when the rain starts to fall, can you really complain?
