Finals week is coming.

One College Junior's Musings On Finals Week

Today I found out from my advisor that I have three semesters left! I don't want it to end, but I feel ahead of my time. I feel like a god; I feel better than Kanye West (imagine that)! I feel like the best in the world at what I do. Finals week is approaching and I'm not nervous at all. You shouldn't be either. I always tell my good friend: "We're a one-two punch; we're a team!" I love my friend for for that -- we're there for each other when we each need it most.

You'd think I'd be upset that finals are approaching, but I'm feeling great. So now, I'm going to power you through this hectic month of April, because we deserve the best. I cannot explain the amount of pain college students go through, especially around this time. It's a shame. But, New Paltz, we have eight days! Eight. Freaking. Days. I'm proud of you for making it this far, and I'm proud of me too.

I'm here to make sure you get through the next eight days of classes. I'd understand if you go into panic mode; there's always a lot riding on finals. I've been working towards my goal for three years, and soon, I'm going to be a senior and moving towards the next step in achieving my goals. But like I said, first we have to take finals. We're gonna be all right. I hope you kick ass when it comes to finals week! You deserve it! There's no way you could not work your behind off and make it this far!

It's finals week. I'd expect you to Netflix and chill more than usual (procrastination tends to skyrocket during this time, am I right?) and that's OK. I'm an English major, so I have a significant amount of papers due. What do you have going on? I'm sure there's definitely a lot more than just finals week on your mind. You're wondering what your plans are for summer. You're wondering what to do after you graduate from school.

You're thinking about what a freshman year you had. You're heading into the year of maturity: junior year. I'm usually a happy guy, but I've been through a lot. I have no idea what you've been through, but I can relate. I want you to get through finals week.

If you want to get it done, you have to make it happen. There's no other way to put it. You can be you. Feel like you can worry about your future and your semester, just know that you can power your way through your horrendous April. But, eight days can't be any closer. You can get through it, just keep working. It's all in the mind.

You'd think I'd be off the walls? Nope, but I have had a turbulent semester. I'm preparing for the worst, but I'm feeling like the greatest person ever. Weird? But the truth! I'll never forget the stresses of finals week, but I'll never forget the way I won the battles. Finals week: takeover begins now! Tap yourself on the chest and finish what you started! There's no way you could work this hard and end it here. Get it done! You can do it. It is all up to you and me! Summer is calling our names soon!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
