College And Home Are Birds Of A Feather

College makes you appreciate home and home makes you appreciate college.

College And Home Are Birds Of A Feather

As a college freshman, the past few months have been a huge adjustment for me. From living with family and going to high school, to living with friends and going to college, there are huge differences. Mainly, there are so many things that I've realized I should appreciate more.

1. Free Food

Free food is number one on the list because it is one of the things I miss the most about home. In college, you either don't want to cook, or don't have food and you're just too lazy to go grocery shopping. Staying at home and having a mom who does all of the grocery shopping for you is a blessing! Homemade meals are definitely something that I took for granted while I was still at home.

2. Parents

Although our parents are only a phone call or text away, being at home is so different. Even though I talk to my mom on a daily basis, when I go home some weekends, I realize how much I still have to tell her. There is so much that goes on in everyday life that you don't have the opportunity to talk about on the phone, and it is crazy! Thank God for those all day to night long conversations with my family when I'm home.

3. Siblings

Living with an older sister can be both horrible and wonderful at the same time. The daily arguments over ridiculous things, stealing clothes, and annoying each other on purpose are just a few of the things I miss about being home. "Home makes you appreciate college" applies to this area the most! Don't get me wrong, I love all of my sisters, but sometimes only being able to call, text, and Snapchat is a good thing!

4. Pets

Living with pets is something that a lot of people don't think twice about. When you go from living with them your whole life to coming home after a long day to an empty apartment, you miss them more than ever. I have to say one of the hardest struggles for me and my roommates is wanting a pet so badly.

5. High School

My senior year I can remember being so excited to move away from home, meet new people, and do different things. Little did I know just how much I would miss high school. Life as a high schooler may seem stressful in the moment, but compared to life as a college student, it is a breeze! The things I mainly miss about it is how little homework I actually had to do, how much time I had to spend with my friends, and not having a worry in the world. Now that I'm in college with a job, a few bills to pay, and schoolwork that demands the majority of my free time, I'm begging to go back to high school.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
