College Has Its Up's And Down's

"Loans... Don't forget that six months after you graduate you have to start paying them back." Thanks mom.

College Has Its Up's And Down's
College.

We all know how expensive college is, and how much it could be if you start to count all of it up, tuition, room, board, technology fees, transportation fees, books, extras, food, drinks, and being able to go out and bowl, see a movie, or go have a nice dinner once in a while.

Many of us are thankful enough to have parents that help us along the way, whether it is paying monthly, helping you take out loans, or doing whatever they can to make sure you can have everything and more.

We as students are doing what we can, while juggling 12-18 credits as a full time student, being in outside activities, having multiple jobs, and the list never seems to end. However, College is not all about walking out with a degree, it is to teach you about yourself, who you want to be, how you will look at life from this point forward, and lastly learn who you really are, and what you really want in life, and/or who you want to become. It bring's you knowledge of the real world, it teaches you that public speaking is not all that bad, the value of a friendship, how to live off of $10 a week, and even why you are so grateful for family.

A bit of a downfall...

Many of us have this friend, that is called debt/loans/the ruler of our lives. So here's what I really can say about it..

Dear debt,

You drive me crazy, you make me want to pull my hair out, you make me wonder how I am ever going to be able to move out of my parents house, you make me question why this world revolves around money, and lastly you make me happy.

Happy? You are asking? I owe you a thank you, thank you for allowing me to make my way through college, allowing me to further my education, and teaching me the responsibilities of paying bills, being responsible, and being grateful.

Loans are not, or at least shouldn't be your first choice, hopefully throughout the years you saved up some money, received a few scholarships, or maybe even some grants. But, we can be grateful they do exist because many of us wouldn't be going to college without them.

Being half way through my Bachelor degree, I have realized how much you learn in and out of the classrooms you are able to walk into, all the different internships and experiences that come with it, and all the great opportunities this huge world has to offer. Every situation has some ups, and downs, but college is the place I guarantee you will have them more than anywhere else. It is part of the learning curve, what makes you, you, and makes all the crazy college years worth it.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
