College Hacks That Every Student Should Know
Dribble

Most people know of the typical dorm hacks-- cake in a mug, the phone in a cup creates a speaker. There are some of these college "hacks" that every student should know, but probably don't. Here are a few I found over the past year of college that aren't really on other "college hack" articles.

1. Pasta in the microwave (not the mac and cheese cups)

Get a microwave safe bowl & plate, your favorite pasta, water, and what ever topping you desire. Put the pasta in the bowl, cover the pasta with water (make sure all the pasta is covered). Put the plate in the microwave and put the bowl with the pasta on top of the plate. (The place catches extra water). Microwave for the time on the box plus 3-4 minutes. Stop the microwave half way through, and stir the pasta. Once done, you may have to drain the pasta. Add your topping. Then enjoy!

2.Room smell? Have dryer sheets?

Tape dryer sheets to the vents of your air conditioner/ heater. Your room will smell like fresh laundry in no time. Just replace them every couple of weeks.

3. Reheat pizza with a class of water in the microwave

This prevents the pizza from getting hard or too gewy

4. You 3M strips on the back of surge protectors to keep them in place.

Get two 3M Hook stripes, place them on the ends of the surge protector so that the tabs are facing out (so you can get it off at the end of the year). Stick it anywhere, you now have a new outlet.

5. Use drawer organizers to separate your make up, school supplies, and more.

Go to the dollar store, buy either the silverware organizer or dividers made for drawers. This will make a difference when you are doing homework.

6. Don't have time for a restaurant or dinning hall?

Invest in some containers. Order food and put it in the container for food on the go.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
