1. Our outfits are on point, and we want the whole world to see them.
The most fun part of the night (second to being at the party or the bar, of course) is getting ready with your roommate or group of friends. Everyone knows that deciding what to wear and putting outfits together while blasting music is the best. Seeing yourself transform from the weekday legging-wearing student to the Instagram-ready babe is mesmerizing. Naturally, we want to share our carefully constructed outfits and the revamped version of ourselves.
2. Our friends are hot, we know it and we want you to know it, too.
A college girl's friends are everything to her. Those bonds stick with you for life. To us, they are awesome human beings. We think they’re the hottest and baddest group of friends ever. Simply because they just are, and we want to show them off.
3. We’re having fun, and we want you to see that our college is 10 times better than yours.
Everyone thinks that where they go to school is the absolute best. From the best sports team or prettiest campus to the craziest parties, you can capture all of this in one picture. We absolutely love to take pictures of ourselves at a sports game cheering on THE BEST team, Instagram-ing the best parts of our campus in the different seasons. And, of course, snapping a few at the party with the flash, a few red solo cups and the most entertaining group of people ever.
4. We look like crap during the week, so the weekend is our time to shine.
Yes, we are all guilty of looking like we just rolled out of bed from time to time, but that’s just the college life. Leggings and sweatshirts are not the only thing in our wardrobe, and our hair is not always in a bun. Between classes and extracurriculars, there isn't a ton of time to work on our appearance. However, on the weekends there's a seemingly endless amount of time to doll up.
5. We want that cute guy from our 8 a.m. class to like it.
Again, we want to prove that we do not always look like a zombie who survives on drinking a huge cup of coffee every morning. We are much more than that, and we want you to see that, underneath all of those layers of clothing, we have the potential to be cute. By simply double-tapping our picture, we receive that satisfaction of knowing that you know.
6. We take as many as possible because we know that we’ll end up only liking a few.
Flash on or off? Does this angle look weird? Well, the only way to know is to take a couple hundred and crop and filter the lucky few later. Every college girl knows that a filter can make or break a picture. Editing and making up captions is always a good time, too. With that being said, we also need a nice variety to post on our different social media pages.
7. Our life is far from boring.
Our days during the week are spent in one of four places: the dorm, dining hall, class and the gym (for some). Whenever we do something that is out of our normal and redundant routine, we feel the need to share. Although we also have our special and sneaky ways of making even our boring life look interesting in carefully thought-out pictures.
8. If it ends up being a blah night, then at least we have cute pics.
Some nights you just might not make it out for a number of reasons. Pregame pictures before going out are the absolute best because this is when we look our best. Our hair isn't too messed up, we can stand up nice and straight and all of our besties are in one place.
9. Our room is decorated to be the perfect backdrop. (Look how hipster my one-of-a-kind tapestry is!)
Our room is a very special place to us. It is decorated to pure perfection and everything is to our liking. The color scheme, posters, throw pillows and, of course, the tapestry. Naturally, we want everyone to see it; in our minds it’s a work of art that we want to be featured whenever possible.
10. We know these years are flying by, and we want to capture all the memories.
We are told over and over again that these years are the best years of our lives and that they will be gone before we know it. With that unsettling thought in the back of our mind at all times, we want to make sure we can document them by taking millions of pictures, never lacking the people that made our college experience so memorably awesome.
