One of the best parts of growing up is the friendships you make along the way, and it gets better as your life goes on. In college, you meet new people and it is a lot like kindergarten. Everyone is in a new place, with no friends, and only a general understanding of what their new life will be like. You meet one person and suddenly, they are your best friend. And then as your network widens, you find your people.
College friends are the best friends. They become your people. They are what make your new home feel like a home. They are your family, your support system, your lifeline. College without your friends would be close to unbearable.
They change with you. They understand the challenges of college and have fun with you. They are there through thick and thin. You go from being the baby of the college to the seasoned seniors, with them by your side the entire time.
They see you at your absolute worst: the lonely nights, the morning-afters, and everything in between. They are there for your stressed moments when you are pulling your hair out during finals to calm you down, and to eat pizza and ice cream with you at 2 a.m.
There is no one you will ever have more fun or more regrets with. They experience one of the best parts of your life with you, and without them life would be a lot less interesting. You sit around in the dining hall, questioning last night's decisions, and end up in laughter with tears running down your faces.
You live with your best friends. When else in your life will you ever be able to live with your best friends, just for fun, with close to no worries in the world? The answer is never.
As we are all on the brink of heading back to school to start the next semester, we are all that much closer to starting our lives with our college friends again. Personally, I cannot wait to be reunited with my people. I have never met people like them, that can make me laugh at the drop of a hat, that I can spend two whole days cuddled up in a dorm room during a snow storm with and not hate, and that made my school feel like home. I am forever thankful that I found them because my college friends are my best friends.
