15 Daily 'College Things' I Can’t Imagine Doing Without My Girl-Gang
Lauren Feiges

These days, I can't wake up without looking at 9 million texts -- asking me if I want to get breakfast before class, go to the gym, or study together later. In college, things you would do by yourself in high school become shared activities. I can't believe I get to eat meals with all of my closest friends every day, instead of feeding small scraps to my dog while I scroll through my phone, eating whatever meal my mom made that night. In a lot of ways, college is super distracting and stressful. However, the amount of time spent doing things with other people, in a face-to-face and phone-free situation, helps to ease some of the stress. Here are the 15 best things to do with your girl gang on the daily, wherever you go to school!

1. Meals

"When are you going to eat?"

"Like 10 minutes"

"Cool, I'll grab a table."

2. Studying

If you aren't fighting people for a table for your girl gang at the library, then you aren't studying hard enough. Chances are, you aren't having as much fun studying if you're studying by yourself too. Get that emotional support system in!

3. Going out

What good are your memories if you're not with your girls?

4. Shopping

Urban Outfitters can have all of our money at this point.

5. Late night snack runs

Ordering wings and Chinese food in order to get through your mountains of homework on the daily envokes less guilt when you do it with your girls.

6. Watching "The Bachelor"

On Mondays, we huddle around a small dorm TV and shout at Colton.

7. Date party

Yeah, taking boys to date party is fun, but if all else fails, there's always someone in your girl gang who will go at the drop of a hat (but she will definitely have to borrow an outfit from you).

8. Walking to chapter together

What good is paying dues if you have to roll up to sorority chapter alone?

9. Sunday morning feasts

Waking up after a night out and NEEDING to recap with your girls over a power dining hall session is honestly part of the routine at this point.

10. Distracting each other from studying

You know that part I said about studying with your girl gang is the only way to do things? Not the best way to get stuff done. However, I really wouldn't want to have a "study break" with anyone else.

11. Exercising

Get sweaty with sisters!!!

12. Meeting up after class

Sitting in the lounge of your dorm with your friends is the best way to catch up (and pretend to do some homework).

13. Watching Netflix

Were you even watching the Ted Bundy series right if you weren't watching it with your friends?

14. Group chats

My girl gang snap group is Always. Blowing. Up.

15. Exploring your college town

Making new places you've discovered your special thing with your girls is the best feeling ever!

New England Summers Are The BEST Summers

Why you should spend your next summer in New England.

Three years ago, I chose to attend college in Philadelphia, approximately 360 miles away from my small town in New Hampshire. I have learned many valuable lessons away from home, and have thoroughly enjoyed my time spent in Pennsylvania. One thing that my experience has taught me, however, is that it is absolutely impossible to beat a New England summer.

Yes, the math major is doing a math-related post. What are the odds? I'll have to calculate it later. Many people have probably learned about the Fibonacci sequence in their high school math classes. However, I thought I would just refresh everyone's memories and show how math can be beautiful and apply to physical things everywhere around us with stunning examples.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
