When I got to college, I thought these next four years would take forever to complete. I made plans as to how many classes I needed to take every semester to get out of here exactly on time.
That being said, I made sure I left wiggle room so that if something were to happen I would still get out of here in exactly four years. Not that I wanted to rush my college experience, but I've never been the scholarly type and I was not looking to waste any more time.
I'm now finished with my second year of college. I am officially halfway done with my college career. While I'm excited to be continuing on to my junior year, saying that I'm sad about how fast this time is passing by is an understatement.
College has been so good to me. I have made some of the best friends I could've asked for. I have had hundreds of experiences, good and bad, that have helped me grow and learn new things about myself and others that I wouldn't trade for the world.
I am lucky enough to attend a University that offers such incredible courses pertaining to my major and I have had so much fun learning so many useful things.
I am a better person than I was in high school. While I could argue that it's because I matured and grew up, I know that I am who I am today because of everything and everyone I surround myself with.
It's hard to sit here and try to convince myself to be excited for summer when all I can think about is how much I love being in school with everyone I love every semester.
I thought freshman year went by fast, but it was nothing compared to how fast this year went... Especially this last semester! I guess what they say is true, time flies when you're having fun!
Junior year is bringing changes for me, and I'm learning to accept that. The close knit group of friends I have are all moving to their respective off campus apartments and none of us are going to be within spitting distance of each other anymore.
Being that that's one of my favorite things about being on campus when I'm not in class, that's something that is hard for me to digest. I know as we get older, changes like this are bound to happen, but it's hard to accept that when I have a problem I won't be able to walk into the next room and spill my guts anymore.
Changes aren't easy. When you get used to things being a certain way, you don't want them to change. While I know that becoming a junior in college won't stop my friendships from growing, it's still sad to see them change.
I know that enjoying my summer is an advantage of still being a kid, but it's hard to watch the best years of my life fly by.
I love college. I love my friends that I have made here. I love the experiences I have been able to have. I am thankful for the mistakes I have made and I'm thankful for the lessons I've learned from them.
Most importantly, I will not take anything for granted.
I will use the things I learn in class to help me in my professional career. I will always cherish my friendships. I will use the experiences and lessons I learn to help me continue to grow as an individual.
I can't believe how fast these two years went, and I can't even imagine how fast the next two will go by. However, memories last forever and I will never forget any part of this incredible journey.
