In honor of the 13th anniversary of this movie, being released on May 2nd, 2003, I thought I'd relate our everyday college lives to the life of Lizzie McGuire during her totally idealistic experience in Rome. This movie influenced us young adults to be the divas we are today, so I believe we owe it some gratitude. Here are 13 ways The Lizzie McGuire Movie relates to our college life.
1. The Newfound Freedom
Lizzie arriving in Rome is a lot like moving to college for the first time. Being away from your parents, being able to do whatever you want, pretty empowering stuff.
2. Getting Ready for a Night Out
The infamous opening scene hits this spot on. Getting ready with your girls takes twice as long due to the impromptu sing offs. And yes, we do use hairbrushes for microphones.
3. Falling for the Hot Guy
You know what guy I’m talking about…the one who just tells you what you want to hear but sure looks good doing it.
4. When Your Song Comes on at a Party
The squad anthem brings out dance moves that didn’t exist until now.
5. Making a Bucket List for the Year
Don't tell me you and your roomie don't have a list of crazy things you want to do before the year is up...
6. Winter on CampusWhen it's negative degrees outside but style is still a necessity...
7. Singing in the CarThis was the start to an iconic scene in this movie. We've all sounded like Paolo while trying to belt out Adele.
8. Trying to AdultThese lyrics are enough to describe most college students' thoughts. Fake it til you make it guys.
9. Acing that Exam
Coming out from an exam knowing you killed it...time to celebrate!
10. Getting Called on in ClassWhen you get called on to answer in class, but you spent last night watching Grey's instead of reading the chapter.
11. Skipping Class*misses 8:00 AM* "I'm sick." *cough cough*
12. Being Behind on Work
Showing up on the first day of class just to find out you had reading for the summer...
13. Embarrassing Yourself in Front of Your Crush
Our awkwardness has gotten the best of us.
