For those who are avid coffee drinkers, it's almost hard to stay away from drinking a cup of coffee a day. I personally cannot go a day without having some in the morning and purchasing a white mocha in the afternoon. Coffee helps kick start my positive attitude and I am motivated to get my work done. However, once the rush is over, the fuel to get the to-do lists done suddenly slows down.
Time just seems to go on forever and we become stuck. Our attitude changes and anger seems to be the only emotion we give out toward others when coffee is out of our system.
We look for the nearest coffee place just to feel sane again. Once we enter those doors, the aroma makes its way into our noses and we order that third or fourth cup of coffee from the barista.
This cycle continues and we are trapped in this bind that we do not realize we are in.
But how do we counter this problem? What are some things we can do to drink coffee the right way?
1. Avoid drinking a cup of coffee one after the other
Sounds easy, right? But there are several cups in our work space from all sorts of coffeehouses.
2. The 2PM rule
They say nothing good ever happens after 2, but in this case it's our need for a cup of brew.
For whatever reason coffee is needed around this time, resist the urge.
3. Set some personal ground rules
Be in control. Do not let coffee dictate how the day should go.
4. H20
Always have water around. Being hydrated maintains mental focus and helps the mind work on those to-do lists.
5. An alternative to consider
Try green tea. It has caffeine to boost the body and also some healthier ingredients as well.
These are just a few ways to help control consumption of coffee. It's a wonderful drink to have and the caffeine high is great, but our body can only have so much.
