Coffee

Some people hate it. A lot of people love it! I am one of those people. I wake up every morning and have cup of good old black joe and start my day. As the day progresses, I usually have more cups and more cups. Sometimes it gets to the point where I get headaches if I do not have just the right amount of that happiness in my mug. However, I do catch a lot of criticism for having this delicious drinking problem. Here are 20 things we all know as being true if you are addicted to coffee.

1. The caffeine headaches are nothing to mess with.

After a certain point in your coffee drinking habits, you may get a headache or two if you do not drink your beverage right when you get up.

2. It warms your soul.

No feeling is better than the first sip of a nice cup of coffee and feeling it warm you from the inside out.

3. Once your coffee set in, you begin to gain perspective on your life.

It is almost like your own personal sun rising throughout your cloudy morning.

4. Your friends just do not get it.

Me: "Hey I am stopping to get coffee before I come over."

Friend: "Can you not just skip your coffee getting and just come get me?"

Me: "....No"

Friends just simply do not get it. Coffee is a must before and people-to-people interaction happens for the day.

5. It is beyond frustrating when a coffee shop messes up your order.

That time they messed up my order on a Monday before the sun rose in my life.

6. You can drink it any time of the day or night and it really does effect you that much.

Personally, I can drink coffee any time of the day or night. Contrary to belief, coffee really does taste good! I do not care what time of day or night it is! I can drink coffee as early as 7 AM and as late as 9 PM. It is delicious and I love to drink it.

7. Your papers have coffee stains on them.

I have several papers that I had sitting on my desk at school (mostly syllabuses for my classes) that have accidentally gotten coffee stains on them. Sometimes it just happens and you just have to accept it and move on.

8. Coffee gets expensive.

It totally gets expensive to go to places like Starbucks or Tim Hortons to get coffee. Some places have rewards programs which all coffee addicts know about. It is always a special treat when you buy seven coffees and get your eight free.

9. It is a comfort.

When my grandpa was in the hospital I always got coffee to go sit with him. It was a time where it felt like my entire world was crashing down and the nice warmth of a coffee cup in my hand was weirdly comforting. Now, when I am stressed out because of school or work, it is a nice comfort to have a nice cup of coffee and relax for even just 20 minutes.

10. Even the smell of coffee can make you smile.

Whether it is the caffeine, the smell or the comfort. Coffee is a great thing to have in your life. It is a wonderful drink. Plus, there are worse things you could be addicted to!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
