Sometimes we forget about the artists in the small font on festival lineups, but that does not mean they are not worth seeing. Here is my list of can't miss sets for Coachella 2015.
Milky Chance. Mostly known for songs like "Stolen Dance," Milky Chance will not disappoint. With beautiful lyrics and easy to dance to beats they are sure to be tons of fun, even if you don't know all their songs.
Glass Animals. This quartet, Dave Bayley, Drew MacFarlane, Edmund Irwin-Singer and Joe Seaward, create the perfect mix of indie rock and psychedelic pop. If you are a fan of ALT-J or Animal Collective, their music is right up your alley. Check out their website for free downloads in case you aren't familiar with their music.
Phox. Phox is, hands down, one of the sets I am most looking forward to. They are an alternative folk and indie band comprised of six members. Songs like "Slow Motion" and "1936" are mellow, but fun. Monica Martin provides unmatched vocals and their performance will exceed your expectations.
St. Lucia. Inspired by groups like Fleetwood Mac, Peter Gabriel, and Madonna, St. Lucia has a signature synth-pop sound that will be stuck in your head for weeks after Coachella. They recently toured with RAC and they will be an awesome addition to your music-filled days in the desert.
Royal Blood. This British rock duo is deeply influenced by blues rock, hard rock, and garage rock. If you are looking to take a break from the excessive amounts of EDM Coachella has added to their lineup in recent years, you will enjoy rocking out to this duo. If you enjoy rock groups like Death From Above or Cage the Elephant, you will have a blast at this set.
Mac Demarco. This solo-artist is not only a singer, but a producer, songwriter, and a multi-instrumentalist. His music is generally classified as indie-pop but has also been called blue wave or slacker rock. People who have seen him live describe him as "funny as hell" and his performances are riddled with humor. If you want a good laugh and a killer musical performance, Mac Demarco is your guy.
The Orwells. This American grown indie-rock group provides great energy and lively performance. Their live sets are known to have some of the most pumped up crowds around. If you don't shy away from mosh pits, you are sure to have a wild time at their set. And, if the mosh-pit isn't your scene you can always step back and enjoy their set from afar, which is equally as entertaining.
This year, Coachella has some amazing headliners, but the small font is full of equally as amazing groups. The groups named above are just a few of the sets you can't miss. Have fun dancing your way through the desert, I know I will.
