The two nominees offer vast differences for the public to choose from during this election. One is female, the other is male, obviously. Although a lot of people would not admit it, this plays a major role in who they choose as the next president of the United States. Both candidates are corrupt, but who is really the lesser of the two evils? Neither of their records are completely clean, but I think Trump did and said a lot he shouldn't be proud of.
Words out of Donald Trump's mouth:
1. On immigrants: "They're bringing drugs, they're bringing crimes, they're rapists." He is generalizing and stereotyping, whatever your view is on immigration.
2. On abortion: "Public funding of abortion providers is an insult to people of conscience at the least and an affront to good governance at best." This is slightly more understandable. However; I think it is important to have women have the right to choose, and it is clear that Trump will not even consider another point of view.
3. On guns: "It's too bad that some young people that were killed over the weekend didn't have guns attached to their (hip), frankly, where bullets could have flown in the opposite direction." So he is saying it would have been better if someone else had been killed by the young people instead of the opposite. This seems like yet another excuse to tell the people of the United States that it is their duty and their right to carry guns. Trump is with the people who are willing to tolerate violence in order to have the power of carrying weapons. I'm not really against hunting with guns, or other relatively benign activities with guns, but when this many people are killed, you know that it's probably a problem to provide easy access to guns to so many people!
4. On foreign policy: "I don't want people coming from the terror countries." Ignorant much? Can you imagine how many countries this man would piss off with his big mouth?
5. On taxes: "I try and pay as little taxes as possible, because I hate what they do with my tax money. I hate the way they spend our money." This man is clearly very wealthy, so I don't think it would hurt him all that much to pay a little bit more in taxes. However; I can understand what he is saying this time. Sometimes taxes do go to tasks and people that they really shouldn't go to. And sometime it comes from people who are barely make enough money to get by, little lone pay taxes. This is his one stance that actually makes a bit of sense to me, even though I disagree with him.
Whether or not you support Trump, you have to admit he's convincing and charismatic. He seems to be a good businessman at first glance, but this could be disproven aspects his record fairly easily. He's a wealthy white male; I think that's why he got so many votes, frankly!
Words out of Hillary Clinton's mouth:
1. On immigration: "First, we rely on partners in Muslim countries to fight terrorists. (The immigration ban) would make it harder." That sounds reasonable to me. Imagine how much rapport this woman would have with other countries. She would get things done, and she would be reasonable about it.
2. On abortion: "I've been proud to stand with Planned Parenthood for a long time, and, as president, I will always have your back." I think as a woman she can understand that, although abortions are terrible, sometimes they are the best option for certain individuals in certain situations. And women should have the right to make these decisions. Clinton is supportive and understanding of women's rights.
3. On guns: "If you are too dangerous to get on a plane, you are too dangerous to buy a gun in America." I am fed up with how difficult it has become to simply board a plane. I actually think they need to relax a bit. Not everyone who goes on a plane is going to be dangerous and kill everyone! There have been too many stereotypes developed by the United States about people boarding planes being extremely dangerous, even though this is often unrealistic fear. That being said, she is right: If someone really is too dangerous to board a plane, they really should not be able to buy a gun. That would just be stupid.
4. On foreign policy: "Israel's security must remain non-negotiable." At least she will be loyal to our ally, and the United States will fight back if it needs to, but the military shouldn't have to be as strong as she would like it be. I hope there is a day when we can have a peaceful country, and world, although I don't know if that day will ever come.
5. On taxes: "I think we need to go after a company like Johnson Controls that is trying to avoid paying taxes after all of us bailed it out after pretending to sell itself in a so-called inversion in Europe." That sounds reasonable to me. At least she doesn't want to take the money from tax payers who are already struggling to pay the rent.
So who do you think is the more reasonable candidate? The guy who says that we can't have people from terror countries, because everyone from those countries must be a terrorist to him? Or the woman who says that maybe we shouldn't give everyone easy access guns if we don't want mass shootings to occur?
