Clinton Or Trump: What About Sanders?

It seems we have our two nominees.

With the primary over here in California, it would appear as though the presidential nominations are set. Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump will be facing off to see who will be the next President of the United States of America. I must say, I am not surprised by any of this outcome. Clinton and Trump appeared as the popular candidates from the start. Popular for both their positive and negative qualities.

We have all heard the case of Hillary Clinton using her own personal email to send messages, some of which were kept as “classified.” Though much of this, the large debate was over whether or not she had broken any rules. Nonetheless this story sparked media outrage and put Clinton in the spotlight. When Clinton first announced her candidacy, she was focused on ensuring us that she was more than qualified to be president, addressing her position in the Senate, as Secretary of State, and being a First Lady.

Up next we have Donald Trump. Trump has created a reputation as the racist businessman in this election. He had his big headline when he first announced his candidacy by calling those coming from Mexico rapists, problems to be dealt with. His solution became to build a wall to avoid anyone coming across the border, and there are people who agree with him. He has also been accused of switching sides on issues like abortion.

However, he is not alone in this. Hillary Clinton has also done this in topics like marriage equality. Much of these changes have brought on the idea that this made them untrustworthy because they couldn’t stay with one position on an issue. I would disagree. Yes, there is the high chance that they are only doing this to increase support, so I would warn to be wary of it all. Regardless, as times change so do people’s opinions, and it’s necessary to allow that change to happen.

Now Bernie Sanders seems to be the candidate that avoided this issue. On issues like gay and civil rights, Sanders has stayed with these issues for decades, and I commend him for it. His campaign brought on the plan to make college tuition free, something I can’t help but express excitement for. But with the Clinton now having enough delegates to gain the nomination, does Sanders even have a chance now? So many have accepted the idea that they are now in a pick and choose situation.

Sanders nonetheless has yet to give up on this campaign. He has vowed to continue on in the presidential race into D.C., and based on the results, he will be supporting Hillary Clinton in the race against Donald Trump. When it comes time to vote, I will always appreciate how Sanders has chosen to fought this campaign to the end, but perhaps it’s near time I follow Sanders choices and begin the support for Hillary Clinton.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
