It's that time of year again. That's right, it's October, and Halloween is right around the corner. Besides the stereotypical "October-ish" things like cooler weather, midterms, and pumpkin spice-flavored everything, Halloween movies are clearly the best part of October. From the legit horror movies to the comedic films, a great Halloween movie exists for everyone. Here are a few you should definitely rewatch this October; you probably have already seen all of these unless you live in a pineapple under the sea, or under a rock.
1. "Halloween" (franchise series)
Everyone knows the famous Michael Meyers films are the stuffed-crust pizzas of the Halloween-themed movie world. From 1978 to 2009, there have been 10 of these fabulous movies that form one of the greatest movie series of all time. The collection focuses on Michael Meyers, the fictional character committed to a sanitarium as a child for the murder of his sister. Fifteen years down the road, his escape sets the tone for the series as he haunts town of Haddonfield, Illinois.
2. "The Nightmare Before Christmas"
This 1993 Tim Burton masterpiece revolves around Jack Skellington, the king of Halloween Town. When Jack discovers Christmas Town, he doesn't fully understand how to celebrate the holiday.
3. "Halloweentown" series
This series that kicked off in 1998 and lasted until 2006 takes place in a community consisting of various Halloween creatures that live in a town made simply for them. The purpose of the town is to show that the creatures including werewolves, vampires, ghosts, pumpkin heads, and much more are real. They created the town for themselves as a separation from Earth's history in order to save humans from their own fear. The four movies are "Halloweentown," "Halloweentown II: Kalabar's Revenge," "Halloweentown High," and "Return to Halloweentown."
4. "Sleepy Hollow"
From 1999, this horror film starring Johnny Depp depicts New York City in 1799 stricken by a killer known as the Headless Horseman. This villain makes the hash slinging slasher about as scary as a marshmallow.
5. "Alvin and the Chipmunks Meet the Wolfman"
Alvin and his chipmunk pals make this 2000 animated horror-comedy a great Halloween movie. If you can't confess you have sung the Monster Mash before, that's OK. Denial is the first step.
6. "Hocus Pocus"
Yes, I saved the best for last. This movie is the grand marshal of all Halloween movies. From the Sanderson sisters to Binx the talking cat, this 1993 classic is definitely one of a kind.
Those are without a doubt some of the most ideal movies for October, and specifically Halloween. So get on the couch, make a blanket burrito of yourself, get yourself something pumpkin-spice flavored if that's your thing, put on a movie, and enjoy this wonderful time of year.
