"Captain America: Civil War" is one of those films that is a must-see. I was dragged out by one of my good friends to see a midnight showing on a Sunday night. Needless to say, I did not regret it. The whole movie was great and I think the Russo brothers did a fantastic job at directing the movie. Not only that but I believe the casting for Spider-Man was one of the best ever. Tom Holland was the perfect choice to play the web-head. In my opinion, he was the highlight of the film.
There were a couple of things that upset me during the course of the movie but I can overlook them because it was just so mind-bogglingly awesome. One thing I would've liked to see was the mention of the superhero registration act. The actual plot of "Civil War" in the comics. Another thing that would have been fan-service and was the perfect opportunity would be the Iron Spider suit. The Iron Spider suit is a gift that Iron Man builds for Spider-Man and it just looks amazing. Drawing from Iron Man’s suit, it has its significant hot-rod red and gold along with several gold spider legs on the back. It gives Peter an added edge and much like Iron Man’s suit it is armor.
The course of the movie follows up the events of both "Avengers" movies and "Captain America: The Winter Soldier." The Avengers are torn between the lives they save and the cost it comes with. They saved an entire country at the cost of hundreds of lives. The movie opens up with the Avengers trying to apprehend Crossbones, and following a sequence of events, Scarlet Witch manages to save Captain America and some onlookers, but in the process, she accidentally kills people in an office building.
Throughout the entire movie, this guilt not only follows her but the rest of the Avengers, as they all feel they’ve had a part in killing innocent bystanders. So the U.N. comes to the conclusion that the Avengers should become a task force that answers to a special committee on the U.N. and they should only be used in situations that are deemed necessary.
Captain America makes a point to the team that there might come a day that the Avengers are needed, but the U.N. does not deem it necessary. This is because the U.N. won’t allow them to react to a bad situation if that situation might become worse and hundreds if not thousands of innocent lives will be lost. Iron Man along with the rest of the U.N. believes it is a good choice because he feels that the Avengers need to be put in check. As he feels guilt for Ultron maybe the whole situation with Ultron could have been avoided if they were guided by the U.N.
A whole bunch of heroes appear in this movie, some of which do not have their own stand-alone film. Nonetheless, it was a huge cast. Captain America, Iron Man, Black Widow, Falcon, War Machine, Scarlet Witch, Vision, Black Panther, Spider-Man, Winter Soldier, Ant-Man, and Hawkeye all make appearances in the movie. Spider-Man was one of the best because Marvel finally has the licensing to use him in the movies. Spider-Man plays a huge part in "Civil War." He provides comic relief and really establishes the audiences’ reaction to the events that unfold in the film. It is also interesting to know which side he starts on in the war and where he ends up after the war is over. "Civil War" is hands down the must-see movie of the summer.
