You see it all the time. Your Twitter feed and Facebook timeline are filled with #relationshipgoals of literary characters and couples who were created at the hands of someone's imagination. There's one guy who will forever flood everyone's news feed: Chuck Bass. His handsome looks and bad boy charm have seemed to capture the hearts and the timelines of basic girls everywhere. Among the endless retweets including pictures and quotes from Chuck, there are thousands of girls lusting for a relationship like Chuck and Blair. Sure, they have an amazing sense of style and have more money than I could ever dream of, but that doesn't mean their relationship is one we should strive for. They have many problems like any other couple. I've always been confused as to why people saw Chuck as perfect or boyfriend goals, when he seemed to cause more trouble than love. Here is why you should not be focused on finding your Chuck.
Degradation of Women
Throughout the series, we have seen Check degrade and abuse women time and time again. Sure, you could blame it on many things. He had a bad relationship with his parents. He was young and had a party stage. However, this does not change the way he views and has treated women. In the very first episode, he is sexually aggressive with two different girls. He had many women come and go from his suite, and he never kept his degrading opinions about women to himself. He indulged himself when it came to women, and it was clear he didn't highly respect them. Why would you want a relationship with a man who has trouble respecting women?
Roller Coaster of Emotions
Once Chuck decided to admit his true feelings for Blair, they had a calm and peaceful relationship from that moment on. Not. They both have periods where they question the relationship and decide they want out. They bring out the worst and the best in each other. It is an emotional roller coaster that the viewer is a part of. Blair has a load of heartbreak due to Chuck and vice versa. They seem to hurt each other more than they love each other. Chuck seemed to disappoint Blair for most of the series. Sure, this can be exciting, especially for a TV show. But, this is not a relationship that you should strive for. You should not strive to have a roller coaster for a relationship. Maybe it worked for a fictional couple on a TV show, but that shouldn't be your reality.
Be careful Upper East Siders. Only Queen B can tame a party boy like Chuck. You play with the fire, and you will get burned.
