Now, as we all know Christmas is right around the corner, and we all have our own favorite songs from the holiday season. You know every word by heart and you sing your heart out every time that they come on. We also know those songs that everyone hates (i.e. I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas and Grandma got Runover by a Reindeer). But this is a list of my top 10 personal favorite Christmas songs.
10. "The Little Drummer Boy"
Most people don't actually like this song. I get that there was no little kid who joined up with the 3 Wise Men to go see the baby Jesus, but that's not what the song is about. The whole point of the song is more about that the kid had nothing more than the gift of music to give to the baby Jesus. Christmas isn't about giving/receiving expensive gifts, it's about showing your love and appreciation for what you have. That's what makes this song so beautiful.
9. "Marshmallow World" by Dean Martin
This song isn't technically Christmas related, but it is a great song to sing to your spouse while you're out and about in the winter. Dean Martin's smooth and savvy voice makes the song that much better. Sure it's a little repetitive, but it's still great nonetheless.

8. "Sleigh Ride"
"Let's go for a sleigh ride! A wonderful sleigh ride!" This song makes me happy. It's so playful and light that it makes the holiday season so much more fun with or without people singing. I always looked forward to singing this song in high school and even as an alum when I go back for the Christmas concert my high school puts on. If you don't believe me listen for yourself!

7. "Blue Christmas" by Elvis Presley
Now this is a beautiful piece of work. Sure nobody wants to be sad during Christmas because the person they were dating dumped them, or for whatever reason he/she can't be there, but Elvis just makes it seem so right. I wish I could put this higher on the list but I feel like 7 is where it belongs. (I sang this in high school and pulled the Dean of Students onto the stage. She cried a little bit.)
6. "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" by Frank Sinatra
Ole Blue Eyes does this song justice. His soothing voice makes you feel like no matter what is going on Christmas will be a great one. I have no other words describe how happy this song makes me feel.
5. "My Grown Up Christmas List" by Kelly Clarkson
As I got older I began to understand this song a lot more. Because as we get older, we tend to turn away from the whole "believing in Santa" thing. And we have seen a lot as in, we've become more wise in the sense that we've been through some tough times in our life, but Christmas is that time where everything is truly going to be okay.
4. "Where are You Christmas?" By Faith Hill
I love this song. And the only thing that makes it that much better is the fact that it's in one of my favorite Christmas movies, How The Grinch Stole Christmas. Sometimes, even now, we lose the true essence of what Christmas is truly about. It's become too commercialized with the whole Black Friday and Cyber Monday, s**t. This makes the most sense of any Christmas song in it's meaning.
3. "Silent Night" (Stille Nacht)
These next few songs were the hardest to choose for the top 3. But I think I got it down. This is the most beautiful song out of any that are on this list. You can listen to it in any language and it will only increase in beauty. The song was originally written in German, hence the name in parenthesis. Take a listen and try not to cry.
2. "O Holy Night" by Josh Groban
I've heard some beautiful versions if this song, but Josh Groban's is by far the best. The way he lets this song build right up to the end, is fantastic. It's moving. Makes me get emotional every time. Every. Time.
1. "All I Want for Christmas Is You" by Mariah Carey
Do I really need to explain why this is number one?
Let me know what you think. Tell me if I missed any, or what you think should be in the top five
