How To Have A Jolly Time Over Winter Break

Winter break is a fun time to get into the holiday spirit with family and friends you have not seen in a while. Since I am back home for the holidays I have been doing activities that will get me in the holly jolly spirit! Here is a list of things you can do with friends during this winter break…

1. Watch the new Grinch movie

Luckily, if you did not know already there is a new "The Grinch Who Stole Christmas" movie out in theatres right now as you're are reading this! Although, it may not be as iconic as the Jim Carey movie it was pretty good. I decided to watch it a couple of days ago with my sister and it was pretty cute. The movie is animated, and it does not have the same exact storylines as the original. Go out with your friends and enjoy the night seeing Mr. Grinch on the big screen!

2. White Elephant

If you've never played this game, do you even celebrate Christmas? White elephant is a fun-filled game where every participant brings a gift to the party and once you get there you pick a number out of a hat. The bigger the number, the better because you get to see everyone open up their gifts before you and you can steal someone's gift from them and keep it for yourself. This game can get intense because it becomes competitive when trying to take home the "best" gift.

3. Christmas Lights

This activity requires absolutely NO MONEY, it's for the free and is so much fun. I am actually going to do this tonight with three of my friends. Going to see Christmas lights is one of my favorite holiday activities to do because it requires no moving LOL. Just sitting back in the car while listening to Christmas music and watching the pretty lights down the street COUNT ME IN.

4. The Nutcracker

I don't know if this will actually interest anyone that is not a dancer, but I love to go see the Nutcracker. Even though they do not speak at all during the performance it is so entertaining to see the ballerinas dance and act out a story. Watching this performance will definitely get you into the holiday spirit.

5. THE TARGET DOLLAR SECTION

Sorry about it but we all know that you cannot resist the dollar section at target. Target is always ready when a new holiday comes around. Right now, they have the cutest things at the dollar section if you just take a look it is so hard not to buy every little thing there is. I bought a mini tree for my room and the cutest ornaments the other day and no my room looks more festive than my own house.

6. Mickey's Very Merry

If you've never been to Mickey's very merry Christmas, YOU MUST. I have not been to Mickey's very merry Christmas in a while but trust me it is so worth it. As a pass holder, I obviously went once they put up the Christmas décor, but I didn't get the chance to go to very merry. At this event, it is almost as if you're VIP because the lines are literally all five minutes and you get unlimited hot chocolate and cookies the whole night topped off with a special Christmas parade at the end of the night.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
