12 Christmas-Themed Things You Absolutely MUST Do Before The Holiday Season Ends

Christmas time is a great time for family and friends. Here I list some of the best activities friends and families can do together.

Make a gingerbread houseĀ

This is a Christmas classic. Gingerbread houses are a lot of fun and there's something satisfactory about making a house made of candy and edible treats.

Ice skating

Ice skating is definitely a fan favorite, especially among couples. It's not too difficult or expensive. So whether you're ina relationship or want to go with friends, get your skates out and go skating!

Make a popcorn and cranberry garland

If you have a Christmas tree, good chances are you are going to decorate it with ornaments. What's better that and more fun, however, is creating a popcorn and cranberry garland. This is a popular family tradition that takes a little patience, but the end result is definitely worth the effort.

Decorate cookies

Whether you like them or not, decorating cookies is a very fun and traditional Christmas activity. I personally love watching videos of people decorating cookies ā€” it's somehow very relaxing and therapeutic. But doing it for yourself is even better.

Secret Santa

Secret Santa is a fun activity to do among friends. It not only builds camaraderie, but it's exciting to see what present you could possibly get.

White Elephant

White Elephant is also another fun traditional gift exchange. It's where everyone donates a present to the activity, and then each person chooses a present. But they don't know what present they could get. What's more, participants can either choose a new present or steal a present from someone else. Deceit and betrayal are the name of the game in this holiday exchange.

Making hot cocoa

You don't always need to spend lots of money or do something for Christmas. Just making a hot, soothing cup of hot cocoa is a nice tradition. Hot cocoa is not only yummy, but it's a good drink to relax and perfect for cold weather.

Make a snowman

If you're lucky and get lots of snow during the Christmas season, then go outside and make a snowman. This is a popular activity among all ages and groups.

Have a snowball fight

With enough snow, it's only natural to want to have a snowball fight among friends or family. There's nothing more satisfactory than throwing clumps of ice cold snow balls at your friends. Of course it's a friendly game, with no hard feelings.

Advent calendars

Not everyone has these, but advent calendars are a fun item to have during the Christmas season. What you do, is you have a calendar, and each day you take out a piece of chocolate for each day leading up to Christmas. It's both yummy and entertaining.

Christmas movie night

Nothing is more appropriate for the Christmas season than watching some Christmas movies. Classics include "Home Alone," "The Santa Clause," and "How the Grinch Stole Christmas." Whether you want a night with just the girls or the beau, it's sure to be a great bonding experience.

Listen to some Christmas music

Ah, Christmas. The time when people are incessantly playing Christmas music. Love it or hate it, you can't avoid it. So might as well fire up the vinyls and play classics such as "White Christmas" and "Jingle Bells." If nothing else, you can spice it up by adding some alcohol.

Christmas is a great time for family and friends to come together and enjoy the holidays. I hope this list of Christmas inspired activities gives others ideas of fun things to do during this holiday season.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
