Christina Grimmie found fame in two ways. First, through her youtube channel zeldaxlove64, where she uploaded countless videos of both original and cover songs. She had amassed over 3 million subscribers.
Then, in 2014, she competed in "The Voice," where she finished in third place. After this, she was signed to Island Records. She was well on her way, having achieved what she wanted to do.
Right now her family, friends, and fans are furious. This man who killed her approached her during an autograph session and opened fire. Her brother immediately tackled him, and the shooter killed himself. Some people say she died doing what she loved, and while that may be true, it should not have happened.
I'm furious. What was the purpose of this senseless act? Why did he shoot her? We will likely never find out because of his suicide. There will be no justice.
All around the world, people are rallying. In whatever way they can, they're sending love and support to her family. Some are donating to the GoFundMe campaign set up in her name. Many are sharing their favorite video with heartfelt messages of disbelief and sadness.
Members of the Youtube community are expressing their pain. Kurt Hugo Schneider, the owner of a widely known music channel, who had worked with Grimmie before, shared the following tweet:
