Why I Chose Thiel

Which college to attend is a difficult choice to make. This is the process I took to decide.

I graduated high school with about 75 fellow students. My school was very small but had amazing teachers and clubs/activities. While searching for college, I had to obviously think about what I wanted from college and what would make me most comfortable. When deciding which college I wanted to attend I had to think about the size of the school I wanted, the distance from home I wanted to be, and the cost.

Growing up in Erie, Pennsylvania, I attended the small school named Iroquois. It was very small and as I decided on colleges, I decided a small school would be the most comfortable for me. I figured switching from a very small school to a large school was not the best option for me. The next choice I had to choose from was the distance the school would be from home. Did I want a school really close to home? Did I want a school that really far away or did I want one in the middle of close and far? When deciding I also had to think if I wanted to commute or live on campus. In the months that I decided, I chose to live close to home and on campus. The last thing to think about is the cost. I didn’t really put much thought into costs because I knew I could get some scholarships. The last step is to choose the school. I went to a band event at a college when I was a sophomore. I went to play with the marching band and found it very fun and relaxing. This was the big event that pulled me towards the school. Marching band is a huge part of my life and was a big factor in my decision. I chose Thiel because it was small, close to home, inexpensive, had a marching band, and I knew at least one person.

Thiel has been the best choice of my life. I have made so many friends and brothers. I joined a fraternity which was also the best choice of my life. I have had the best time of my life performing for the marching band. It felt so great participating in band camp last summer. I was very comfortable and showed my talents. I am so excited to continue my education at Thiel. I return to campus two weeks before classes start for band camp and I am very excited to return to the band as a band officer.

Choosing a college is a very difficult decision and a very long process. There are many colleges to choose from and many other options separate from college. I am very lucky to have found Thiel because it was the best choice for me.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
