As our summers come to an end, it is time to get back into the routine of school. You may know exactly what your school year is going to entail: How much homework you will have, how much you will have to study, and how much free time you will have. But for those of you who don’t know what to expect, here is a guide to picking a field of study that will make you a little bit more ready for the transition back to your school-year routine.
1. Decide how much homework you want to have, and how much you want to study.

You definitely do not want a major that will have you pulling out your hair because you’re drowning in homework. The majors that involve science and math are most likely the ones with a ton of work. If you can handle it, go for it. Otherwise, steer clear of math and science oriented majors, and stick with something that will allow you some free time.
2. Decide how much money you want to make.
If you want to be rolling in money by the time you are thirty, I suggest looking into the business school. If you are ready to study and are weirdly good at math, consider finance and accounting. And if the sight of blood doesn’t make you want to vomit, then you probably want to check out the pre-med majors (most are science oriented).
3. Decide what kind of person you want to be.
Do you want to be successful? Or do you want to depend on someone to make you successful? Either way, it is important to pick a field of study based on your needs and wants as a person. Do you want to have some “me time?” Or do you want to go insane thinking about the amount of work you have to do? It is crucial that you try to pick a major that will help you get to know who you are as a person and who you want to be for the rest of your life.
