Calling All Shopaholics: A Fun And Sustainable Way To Shop Adventurously Without Breaking The Bank

I've discovered something through my wonderful new friends at school that I never would have thought of doing on my own.

My wardrobe throughout high school consisted of what my mom and I both agreed on buying from some of our favorite stores and pieces I would buy myself when shopping with my friends. I don't really describe my style as one general fashion umbrella style, but individual pieces I like and that I think look good on me.

It's hard for me to take risks fashion-wise. Especially since a lot of the clothes my mom would buy for me would be nicer, new clothes we both liked. Hard to take risks when your mom isn't the risk-taking type.

My newfound favorite place to shop is Goodwill!

Not only is it sustainable to not always be participating in fast-fashion, but it's fun to dig through racks and racks of old lady clothes to find something absolutely too cute not to buy! And at the low price of, like, less than ten dollars most of the time!

For example; on New Year's Eve I went to my local Goodwill for the first time (I normally venture to the Athens Goodwill with my friends, this was my first time seriously scouring my Goodwill - don't know why it took me so long to discover that it's amazing!) and found some amazing stuff that I absolutely love!

I've been looking for a nice jean jacket for such a long time now and I finally found an amazing one for SIX dollars! It's in amazing condition and it fits me perfectly, and I'm a tiny human!

Compare that to a brand-new Hollister jean jacket, one my mom would have not problem buying for me; full price would be close to or over $100.

It's so thrilling to find something you love while wading through things you could see even your grandmother hating, especially sustainably and at such a low price. Since it's so cheap too, it doesn't hurt to experiment! Buy something you wouldn't normally, try to alter it yourself to fit your vision! Add your friends into the mix, and you have yourself a wonderful, fun-filled day.

You may be wondering what my mom thinks about all this?

She's not always thrilled with my finds, but she is amazed and incredibly pleased with my jean jacket find ;)

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
