Eye Buy Direct

If you have bad eyesight and need vision correction, you probably already know how expensive prescription glasses can be. Glasses are especially pricey at larger corporations like Pearl Vision, which primarily sells brand name eyewear. I used to buy my glasses in store at Pearl Vision because I just wasn't educated about the online process of buying glasses. The average cost of glasses (with the lenses and everything I needed) would average between $175 and $400...just for one pair! Knowing how expensive my glasses were made it really stressful to pick just one pair. I'd need to be happy with that one style for at least a year before I could get a new pair, which then obviously drew me to the cutest, most expensive glasses, to feel like it was worth it.

Luckily, one day while I was scrolling through my Facebook feed, I noticed a friend had posted a picture in her cute new glasses. I messaged her and asked her where she got them from and she told me about EyeBuyDirect. EyeBuyDirect is a company that was founded in 2005. Their goal is to deliver the best quality products for the lowest price. Even though they don't sell any big brand names like Giorgio Armani, their products are just as aesthetically pleasing. One handy feature they offer is the 'try on' tool; just upload a picture of your face to see what the glasses would look like on you. Another great thing about the company is that they donate regularly to non-profit organizations.

The buying process is easy. First you pick out frames, then you enter in your eyeglass prescription, and finally you customize the type of lenses you want. That's all there is to it. When I bought from EyeBuyDirect I got four pairs of glasses for under $150 dollars. That's four pairs of glasses for less than the price that one usually costs me. That is a crazy good deal. And yes, they do work! One pair was even customized to be sunglasses. Granted I shopped on Cyber Monday, so I did have an additional discount, but they have regular sales you can watch out for.

Here are two of the pairs I got:

The quality is not spectacular. One of my pairs kinda squeaks when open/close them, and another feels a bit flimsy. But if you are only paying roughly $20 for frames, you really couldn't expect much better. You get your money's worth and more if you ask me. They are excellent when compared to the price. Plus, if you're anything like me, you may not take the best care of your glasses anyways. I always let my lenses get super scratched up, and the frame usually gets tweaked. It makes no sense for a person like me to have super expensive glasses.

This is the perfect compromise.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
