Looking for a cheap date in Ames? I've got you covered:

Monday:

CyBowl & Billiards

You can go bowling at the Memorial Union on Monday from noon – close for $1 a game! Each game is a dollar, shoe rental is another dollar and you can get pop to drink for another dollar.

Tuesday:

Taco Tuesday

If you're 21, take your date to Es Tas Bar and Grill for the best tacos in Ames – and they are only a dollar on Tuesday! El Azteca and Fuzzy’s Tacos have good tacos too, but they can’t beat the dollar tacos at Es Tas.

Cinemark Movies 12

Everyone loves a movie date! On Tuesday, the movies are half the price. Download the Cinemark app on your smart phone to unlock coupons for movie snacks. The app also gives you points each time you go to the theater which can add up for free things!

Wednesday:

Ames/ISU Ice Arena

On Wednesday nights you can go skating for $5 at the Ice Arena! This includes $3.25 admission and $1.75 skate rental. You can skate from 8:00 – 9:30 p.m. You must bring your ISU ID to get the discount.

Thursday:

“Hooked” Dinner Date

Want to go out to eat on a budget? Download the Hooked App to view several online coupons for restaurants in Ames. Some of my favorite coupons are buy one get one free buffets at Pizza Ranch and buy one get one free dairy queen blizzards.

Friday:

FAC at the bars

FAC stands for Friday After Class. This is a really cheap way to turn up at the bars if you are 21. Meet that special someone at the bars on Welch around 5:00 p.m. for ridiculously cheap drinks. Be warned, the drink prices go up every half hour, so the earlier you get there the better.

ISU AfterDark

Not the partying type? Go to ISU AfterDark to see live performers, get food and play bingo all FOR FREE! You can make crafts and win prizes. ISU AfterDark typically hosts three events every semester.

On the weekends you can go to the go visit Reiman Gardens (free with your ISU ID), go shopping at North Grand Mall, rent movies from the Ames Public Library or simply stay in and Netflix and Chill.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.
