I'm going to be honest, I'm not really a baseball fan, and I've only seen two games straight way through in my life. During the seventh game of the World Series, however, I voluntarily sat down and watched all the way through.
My family has always been Cubs fans, and though they never went very far, I would say by the 6 million people that attended the World Series parade Friday, the Cubs have the best fans in the world.
I never really understood how I know every single word to their 'theme song,' but I never regretted it, especially this week.
As I was saying I'm not really a sports fan. I keep up but I don't really watch regularly. I'd seen baseball games and honestly I thought they were pretty boring. Wednesday night I was proved so so wrong.
Never had I watched a game where I was on the edge of my seat hoping and praying that the Cubs would win. I swore to myself (and to the viewers of my Snapchat) when Cleveland scored and even more when they tied the game. But ultimately, the Cubs prevailed. That game had me so stressed out because I knew how much was riding on it. But look at us now — we can say that for the first time in 108 years, the Cubs are world champions.
In the after interviews the coach of the Cleveland Indians said that the Cubs should've lost. The Cubs and the whole city of Chicago have waited 108 this day. They deserve to win, they deserve 6 million fans at a parade, they deserve having a river dyed blue, and they deserve the history that they have made.
I'm not gonna lie, I cried when they won and when most people flew the W (flag) I took the blue marker and drew it on my hand. I probably could've done better, but hey it was one in the morning, and I'm a broke college student. The Cubs deserve all the love that they received for this amazing in historic honor.
