About two weeks ago former Alaska governor and vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin officially endorsed Donald Trump for President of the United Sates. Wow, that is an interesting sentence there. Anyway, Palin's endorsement is apparently good news for Trump and was a blow to the Ted Cruz campaign which she has supported in the past. Palin has become a celebrity in her own right and her endorsement of Trump forms a celebrity powerhouse of two people who know how to make the news, for better or worse.
Celebrities have a role in politics. Singers, actors, comedians and many others have offered their input into the 2016 race for the White House. Hillary Clinton probably has the most celebrity support, but Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders have their fair share too. It's great that these celebrities are involved in politics and hopefully, it makes more people interested. I also think it's cool that they are open with their opinions, but I don't think it really means anything.
Willie and Phil Robertson of the popular TV show "Duck Dynasty" have been heavily involved in politics. Willie has decided to endorse Donald Trump and Phil endorsed Ted Cruz. The cast of the show is a conservative, Christian family so those candidates align with their beliefs. "Duck Dynasty" is a funny show to watch and Willie and Phil are some entertaining guys. I'm sure that their duck calls are cool too. However, I'm not sure their endorsement should mean anything. It's nice that they have opinions, but I would hope no one is basing their vote off of this. Taking political advice from people on "Duck Dynasty" is kind of like getting a babysitter recommendation from Casey Anthony. It just doesn't make much sense.
Katy Perry is a huge supporter of Hillary Clinton and even had a concert at one of her events. There's really nothing like watching the fireworks display on the Fourth of July with her song playing in the background. She seems pretty nice too, but let's just say I doubt anyone was thinking "You know, I was leaning towards Marco Rubio, but now that Katy Perry endorsed Hillary it kind of changes everything for me."
Just before the Nevada caucus, she also picked up the endorsement of actor Morgan Freeman. Again, I like his movies but... actually never mind that's pretty awesome. Morgan Freeman's endorsement might actually be significant. He has a lot of experience considering that he plays the President of the United States in like every movie ever. She also is going to have the coolest sounding commercials. She should just record him saying what she wants to say and use that from now on.
Speaking of experience, Will Ferrell played Cam Brady in the movie "The Campaign" where he is running for re-election as a congressman. He reminds me of Jeb Bush so it would be ironically funny if he endorsed him, but Ferrell has decided to give his support to Bernie Sanders. I'm still hoping that he will go on "Saturday Night Live" and impersonate Jeb. Sanders also got the endorsement of rapper Lil B The Based God which matters way more than what Sarah Palin thinks.
