As some of you may know, Young Life just celebrated its 75th birthday. Young Life is a great organization that provides great opportunities for regular teenagers to hang out and have fun but also learn about the Lord. So, to celebrate what Young Life has done in my life and in many others’ lives, here are 10 things I love about Young Life.
1. Dressing up
If you don’t dress up for Young Life themes, are you even doing life right? Half the fun of going is putting together an outfit and looking absolutely ridiculous with your friends.
2. Skits
Young Life comes up with some pretty hilarious skits, and some pretty weird ones.
3. Camps
I’ve never been able to go to a summer camp, but I have gone to a weekend camp at Sharptop Cove and it was one of the best experiences of my life. Go to a camp.
4. Big cookies
This is enough of a reason to go to camp. Big cookies are actually the best thing in the world.
5. Songs
Sweet Caroline, Sweet Alabama, Bananas.
6. Games
Eating baby food. Eating an apple on a string while blind folded. Shaving cream and cheese puffs. The list goes on.
7. Leaders
Your leaders are some of the best people on earth. They're great to talk to and hang out with. They let you know you're loved.
8. A Place to always feel welcomed
The leaders and teenagers that go work really hard to make sure everyone feels welcomed. I felt right at place the first time I ever went. I know I can be as crazy as I want and still feel like I have a place among everyone.
9. Friendships
Some of my closest friends are from Young Life. They always have your back, are willing to listen, and are some of the funniest people in the world.
10. Jesus
Throughout it's 75 years, Young Life has stayed true to the Gospel. They've created a chill atmosphere so that those who don't know Christ have the chance to learn about Him and those who do know Christ can grow in their relationship with Him. The center focus of Young Life is to spread the word to as many as they can, and they've done a great job of it.
Happy birthday Young Life. Keep making teenagers feel fullYLoved.
