Can people actually talk to ghosts?

Catfish's First Supernatural Episode

On Wednesday, April 27, 2016, Catfish the TV show experienced its first supernatural episode. If you do not know what Catfish is, it is a TV show on MTV where internet crossed lovers try to meet for the first time, typically one of them being a "catfish." A catfish is where someone uses pictures of a stranger and pretends to be that person to pursue an internet relationship, with no intentions on meeting or confessing to their love.

But, on Wednesday viewers were introduced to a girl named Kayla who has been speaking to a woman named Courtney who told her she is able to speak to Kayla's dead father. Back in 1999, Kayla's father Frankie killed her mother during a mental break down that caused him to stab her over 20 times. While in prison, Kayla's father Frankie had another mental break down and killed himself.

Courtney contacted Kayla via Facebook two to three years ago introducing herself and telling her that her father visits her and even told Kayla some personal things about her father. Nev and Max were skeptical of Courtney at first, their first instinct of Courtney was she may be an ex-girlfriend of Frankie's and that's how she knew small details about him. Courtney claimed she has been speaking to Frankie's ghost for five years and felt like after a while she should reach out to Kayla. Kayla has tried meeting with Courtney for a while now but, Courtney always had an excuse. Kayla had enough of the excuses and reached out to Catfish for their help. Max even said he has never been hooked on a Catfish story as much as this one.

Max and Nev were very skeptical because they do not believe that mediums can actually speak to the dead. They figured Courtney googled facts about Frankie and was just making up the entire story all along. They were afraid that she had bad intentions and was going to hurt Kayla in the end by telling her terrible things about her parents.

When Courtney and Kayla finally met the first day, all Courtney told her was the same things she has been telling her for the past two to three years. So initially Kayla thought it was all fake, she needed to hear something about her father that no one but her, her aunt, and grandmother knew.

The second day they went to meet up with Courtney again, Courtney claimed that Frankie was on the other side of the room watching them, and would not come close. Kayla started to talk to him to let him know that she forgives him and misses him. That's when Courtney dropped the bomb and told Kayla and her aunt Shannon something that no one ever knew besides them.

Courtney told them that Frankie slept with a foster mother at one point, they were in complete shock, only the three of them knew that. Nev and Max were blown away and turned into believers of mediums, there was no way that Courtney could find that on the internet. She even told Kayla that Frankie haunts that foster mom and Kayla said that foster mom reached out to her a few years ago saying she smells Frankie's cigarettes and alcohol, but just thought she was crazy.

It's safe to say, this episode of Catfish was the craziest one yet.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
