If you take a look at my camera roll on my phone or my Snapchat memories, you will undoubtedly come to the conclusion that I am O B S E S S E D with my cats. Completely and utterly obsessed. Anyone will tell you that it might be a bit of a problem. In my eyes it's completely normal, but sometimes even I can admit I go a bit overboard, even though they're hard not to love. It's difficult for me to gush over my cats to others because I feel like I'm surrounded by dog people no matter where I go.
I often see posts about all they need in life are dogs and there's often events where they bring dogs in (@ Susquehanna) for events, but never cats. In my experience it's a lose lose situation being a cat person: my family gets annoyed when I obsess over them and my friends are more dog people. My response: take as many obnoxious pictures of my cats, save them, and send them to my friends anyway. They're used to ignoring me by now.
My cats give me comfort when I need it, entertainment when I'm down, and look down right adorable all the time. There's never a time I walk in the front door and I'm not greeted by them. Every morning I wake up and open my bedroom door and there they are, running towards me. When I'm relaxing they'll often jump up on the couch and get comfortable right next to me. There are times (more often than not) when they just want to be left alone and I have plenty of scratches and blood shed to realize when not to mess with them.
Many days when I'm away from home, I'll force my mom to send me constant pictures of my cats. Facetime comes in handy too when I want to talk to my cats and expect them to respond, even though my mom thinks I'm calling to see her.
My boys, Piper and Echo, make my days better. They're so soft, small, and I can pick them up with one hand and carry them all around. Like all of us, they eat too much sometimes, and end up looking much rounder around the edges, but that's just more of them to love.
Though they may be cats, I try and do dog things with them. Most people wouldn't try and take their cat out on a walk with a leash (they hated it), but I did. A lot of cats aren't sitting in the passenger seat while at the grocery store, but mine occasionally join me for joy rides (again, they hated it). There's even times when they like being outside more than inside, and then I wait for hours for them to come back inside.
Dogs are great pets and companions for some, and cats are too, for those like me. I'm just waiting for the day that others step up and respect cats for the AMAZING, SWEET, and LOVING furballs they are (@ Susquehanna, maybe cats would be a great stress reliever before finals!). Get yourself a cat and never let them go, until the claws come out, then let them go. You're better off.
