A Semi Review of Captain America: Civil War, The Best Movie Of 2016

Can we take a minute to talk about the masterpiece that is Captain America: Civil War? Unless you've been living under a rock, you've probably heard all about it. Tony Stark, distraught over the innocent lives lost to his invention, Ultron, believes the only way to prevent more innocent people from dying is to work with the government. Steve Rogers, the embodiment of American ideals, refuses to side with restrictions that could take away the ability to save people. Arguments ensue, fighting happens, and hearts are broken; I cried more at this movie than I did from my first break-up.

In all honesty, this movie is probably the best thing that has ever happened to me. As a person who has sold her soul to all things Captain America, I knew this movie would change my life. Watching Steve Rogers stand up for what he believed in reminded me all too much of the kid from Brooklyn who lied on his enlistment form. Point blank, Steve Rogers is a hero who will do anything to protect America, even if it does mean becoming a wanted vigilante.

Steve "I can do this all day" Rogers

My favorite part of this movie was, of course, Bucky Barnes. While The Winter Soldier was amazing and one of my favorite movies in existence, that movie does nothing more than introduce Buck as TWS and show Steve's remorse. Watching Bucky come back to being Bucky was a life changing experience. The moments Steve and Buck share in this movie are so sweet and beautiful. Bucky literally carries around a picture of Steve in his journal, aka they're total boyfriends. Steve and Bucky fighting side by side, using Steve's shield, is what I was born for. Seeing Bucky laugh, bond with Sam, and joke about his age are refreshing changes from the prisoner of Hydra he was. It's just so great to see Bucky become a person again. Seeing people interact with him and treat him with respect are what made this movie so great.

Boyfriends Steve and Bucky

Oh look, boyfriends tearing Tony apart

Rip me to pieces
Civil War is a love story of sorts, with Steve picking up and laying down his shield for the one person he truly loves.

Although I could literally spend my entire life talking about Steve and Bucky and how they are honestly dating each other, there was one thing that pissed me off for the entirety of this movie; Secretary of State Thaddeus Ross and his support of the Sokovia Accords. It was so annoying to hear "you know, it's your fault all these innocent lives are being ended." Like yes, innocent deaths are awful, but more people would have died if the Avengers hadn't stepped in? They were constantly talking about Wanda and how she was a danger to society, despite the fact that by taking Brock's bomb and killing twelve people, she saved a hundred others. Even more annoying was Tony's support when he knew he was wrong.

Steve I am right bc I know everything

In summary, through the good and bad, if you haven't seen Civil War yet, I honestly have no idea what you're doing with your life.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
