Why I Can't Imagine Voting For Donald Trump

I have conservative values. While I think isn't good to identify with political parties (because it prevents progress), when I registered to vote, I identified myself as Republican. I am beyond discouraged with this election. This is the first time in my life I can have a say in who should represent our country, and I think I would rather not vote than to have to pick one of the main options we have left (Trump and Clinton). While I won't even bother to explain why I won't vote for Hillary (I don't think the first female president should be a chronic liar, but then again, most politicians are), I would like to discuss my current disgust in Americans' attraction to Donald Trump. I was always told that outside of my "bubble" of life, there were horrible people who were bigoted, racist, hateful, and sexist, yet I had never met a single person with one of these qualities until I turned on my television and saw Mr. Trump speaking for the first time. I am frightened by the stories I have heard of Mr. Trump rallies, or should we say riots.

I've paid close attention to Mr. Trump's comments directed toward or at women. From his immature comments about Carly Fiorina's appearance and the derogatory terms he directed at Megyn Kelly, to the way he speaks of women like they are objects there for his pleasure. Mr. Trump has an unfriendly track record when it comes to women, constantly referring to them as something only useful to look at. He has been indecent in his behavior to multiple female reporters and degrades them in most of his interviews. I am angered his comments are accepted and ignored.

Megyn Kelly, a Fox News correspondent and republican, had a major riff with Trump, with him tweeting terms such as "bimbo" at her after she simply did her job in asking him difficult questions during a debate. Kelly did not just take such comments in stride but stood up for herself and for women. That is until her recent personal interview with Mr. Trump, in which he neglected to apologize for his behavior after it was brought up and she simply laughed it off. Kelly immediately lost my respect. If this hard-hitting TV personality simply accepted Trump's cruel comments, how is the rest of America supposed to stand up to him?

If you are a woman, or have a sister, mother, female friend, look up some of the things Mr. Trump has said about women. Think about how it would make you feel if they were directed at someone close to you. Think of the character of the man you are voting for. In a time when women are beginning to gain equality, we need a president who encourages growth, not causes the little growth we have made revert.

Unfortunately, I feel like it is too late to solve this problem. I am definitely not saying vote for Clinton. I am saying, pray for a miracle nominee.

Pray for America, people. Pray for us.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
