1. Because you miss her and want to hear her voice

2. Because you failed a test and are considering dropping out, but then she tells you that your smart and talks you out of it

3. Because you are walking across campus and want someone to talk to but have no friends to walk with so you call your mom so you look like you are important and have people to talk to

4. Because you are having a crappy morning and to top it off, you just spilled coffee on your white shirt and she needs to know

5. Because you are sitting near a cute boy and need someone to boost your confidence to talk to him even though you are still too chicken to do it

6. Because you want to rant about how your roommate always leaves the dishes in the sink

7. Because you want to talk about what happened on this weeks episode of whatever y'all used to watch together (for my mom and I, it was The Bachelor)

8. Because you are on your period and want to explain how much you hate being on your period even though she already knows

9. Because you have a million things to do today and you just have to tell her the million things you have to do to further procrastinate

10. Because you are considering dropping out again

11. Because you miss your dog and want to see how he/she is doing for the 4th time today, and talk to your baby on the phone just to hear them bark one more time (even though I have no pets bc my dad is allergic to animal fur, I am sure you relate)

12. Because she calls you and talks for 30 minutes about nothing but are actually trying to get stuff done (you know when you put the phone on mute and carry on while she rambles, sorry mom)

13. Because you have this stain on your shirt and don't know how to get it out and moms somehow know everything about everything involving stains (specifically that coffee stain)

14. Because you are indecisive and cannot decide what you want to eat, so you need your mom to tell you what to eat

15. Because you don't know how to cook a spaghetti squash and you need your mom to tell you step by step

16. Because you want to brag about how many times you went to the gym this week instead of laying in bed in self wallow

I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
