Last night, March 18th local Orange County band Between California and Summer put on a show at their drummers house in San Clemente, CA. There were 4 other bands that played including Never Let This Go, The Taco Truck Band, Something More and The Home Team.

The night was awesome, all of the bands except BCAS and The Taco Truck band were from different states. The Taco Truck Band was on first and I had never heard of them until yesterday, but they were really cool. They had some really awesome guitar solos and they even played a trombone during one of the songs, which is something that you don't see often.

Next up was Never Let This Go who were on tour from Arizona. They got the crowd involved in their set, making everyone get up and clap along and sing along for the last song of the set. David Kleinebreil, the lead singer of the band expressed how happy he was to be there playing and he also talked about how music is cool because it brings people together. I totally agree that music does bring people together and that is something that I love about it.

The Home Team who is from Washington was next and they were touring with Never Let This Go. They were missing their guitarist so they played a few songs acoustic and a few normally. Hearing the songs acoustic was cool, no other band played acoustically so it was different from all the other bands.

Something More was out here from the east coast, so they were quite a ways away from their home. They brought some more pop-punk vibes and got the crowd excited. I think they even got people to mosh which was funny to see since we were in a backyard.

Between California and Summer was on last and I had known about them for a while but had never actually seen them until now. I think they played 5 or 6 songs. Surprisingly, they covered the song “A Thousand Miles”, which was super funny. Everyone sang along with the lead singer Adam Cease during the chorus of the song and it sounded very cool.

Having never been to a house show before I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect. But it was so cool to see bands play in that small of a setting. All the bands that played last night were awesome. I am super happy that I was able to make it out to this show.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
