On Feb. 7, 2015, Caitlyn Jenner was involved a fatal car accident on Pacific Coast Highway. A woman by the name of Kim Howe was driving and rear-ended Jessica Steindorff's car, causing Jenner to strike Howe's car into oncoming traffic. Howe's vehicle was then hit head-on, causing her to die at the scene.
Jenner is said to have been driving at an unsafe speed considering the existing traffic conditions at the time of the crash, however, she was not exceeding the posted speed limit.
Jenner is 'not-likely' to be charged with manslaughter because she hit the break several seconds before hitting the car in front of her. Her driving record was essentially clean before this incident, so it is highly unlikely that she will spend any time behind bars. The maximum penalty for misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter is one year in jail.
Jenner is already facing two civil lawsuits from Steindorff and Howe's family, but could also face a misdemeanor manslaughter charge for the death of Kim Howe. Howe's adult stepchildren are suing Jenner because of the death of their beloved family member Kim, while Steindorff is suing because she has lost money from work from the crash, and because of the cost of the damages to her car. Jenner is ultimately getting sued for over $25,000. Now, there's no question whether or not Jenner could afford this money, but are the lawsuits rightful? Some believe so because Jenner is at fault for the death of Kim Howe, but others say no because if Howe hadn't crashed into Steindorff in the first place, none of this would have ever happened.
