Capybaras are my favorite zoo animals (yes, that's a thing), and are in the running for my favorite animal ever (horses and dogs are my first love). My love affair with capybaras (pronounced Kappybaruhs) started sometime in middle school. I had to pick a subject to do for an art project and I picked these majestic creatures. I'm actually quite proud of how the painting turned out (and my mom liked it enough to keep it, so that's a plus).

Every time I look at a picture of them, I get emotional. Actually, every time I think about them, I get emotional. Don't even get me started on how I look or sound when I talk about them (think Kristen Bell and her sloth obsession). I was showing some friends pictures while writing this and almost started crying. I've got it bad, folks. One of my main goals in life is to hug a capybara (or all).

And now I've decided to share with the world how amazing these magnificently magical creatures are!

Let's start with the some facts!

Class: Mammalia (Mammals)

Order: Rodentia

Size: They are around 1.6 feet tall and 3 to 4 feet long! Weight: They're big! 60 to 174 pounds!

Capybaras are obsessed with water! They eat water plants, they escape there from danger, they court each other there! Water is basically their homeboy! They even have slightly webbed feet to help out!

They talk more than I do! Yelps, purrs, whistles, barks, growls, huffs, and whinnies, these animals are so social they would give the peeps from HIMYM a run for their money. Plus, their voices are the defense system against predators, so their constant socialization saves lives!

You can actually have a capybara as a pet! It makes for a lot of awesome pictures, that's for sure. And it seems there might never be a lack of communication in your life because of it!
