I Decided To Delete My Dating Apps For These 5 Reasons

Saying bye to Tinder and Bumble will either turn out to be the best or worst decision I've made so far in 2019.

Dating apps are all the rage right now. I have spent my fair share of time on Bumble and Tinder, but I want to see what the real world has to offer me. What have I got to lose?

1. I am a 25 year old woman

I'd like to think I am better than "swiping right" on men...but lets be honest here; I'm not. I just figured that now, I can attempt to meet someone in real life. Maybe at the Y or one night when I'm downtown with the girls. You know, as long as he's not totally drunk. I want to step away from my phone for a bit to really see what's out there.

2. It was killing my battery life

I am not a fan of being one of those humans who walks around with a cord constantly attached to them because their phone is dying. (My Kim Kardashian game does that enough). It was killing me to have to plug my phone in to see if a dude likes me or not. It was time to save my phone.

3. CREEPY DUDES

This kind of says it all...BUT dudes were actually the creepiest on Tinder and Bumble. Like I'm sorry, but if your profile pictures is just of your boy child chest with ZERO muscles and you're basically trying to show me your junk, you are garbage. I have ZERO time for that in my life. I don't want to hang out with you just to end up hooking up and regretting it at the end of the day. I am actually looking for a person to spend time with, kick it with, take to family functions, you name it. NO TIME FOR GAMES.

4. Swiping in public is horrific

Attempting to be on a dating app in public is a science. You first have to lower your brightness, then you have to turn all forms of volume OFF (Tinder has it's own text tone,) and then you should move to a spot by the wall so no one can see behind you. The worst is when you're friends know what you're doing and then call you out for it IN FRONT OF THE WORLD.

5. I'm ready for a real man

Don't get me wrong, I am sure there are some super nice and sweet guys on the apps, (I've met a few), but I am ready to have an adult relationship with someone and see where it goes. I don't want to lie about how we met or feel ashamed because I met him on an app. I want to feel proud and know that there is a reason that person is in my life.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
