Most could never imagine seeing space for themselves. Or better yet traveling to space for a vacation. This, what seems to be an impossible idea is becoming a reality. If you happen to have a spare $250,000 lying around, then you have the chance to reserve your seat to space!
Virgin Galactic so far has already sold 640 seats to the (very wealthy) public from across the globe. The goal is to take off within the next year riding on what is called SpaceShip Two.
Travelers who buy the ticket to space will get many perks. The flight holds six passengers and your space travel experience will begin with three days of training at Spaceport America in New Mexico. The traveler will be allowed to spend several minutes out of their seat to have a once in a lifetime zero-gravity experience.
The flight itself allows six passengers. It is a two and a half hour flight and once you get to the spaceport, you get a congratulatory champagne at the spaceport. Space travelers get to leave their seats to experience several minutes of zero-gravity and get to experience the most breathtaking view of their lifetime.
Virgin Galactic will hang SpaceShip Two when flying roughly 40,000 feet once at an altitude of more than 100 kilometers, where passengers will experience "several minutes" of weightlessness before strapping back into their seats for the ride back to Earth.
The 250,000 ride to space is a new open market that will be an attraction for many in the future. The idea of being able to see the world from space is a whole new concept that could change the world for all of mankind.
