Why Buying A Dog Is The Best Decision Your Family Can Make

It is. This will only become clear once you’ve welcomed a little pup into your family. As you see it grow, you’ll understand why making the choice to keep him or her was, by far, the best decision ever.

It’s amazing how a person can change someone’s life, but it’s even more amazing how a furry, four legged creature who can’t speak or do things on its own, changes your world in a great way. That’s exactly what I say to anyone who asks me why I chose to own a dog. I became a puppy mommy almost 5 years ago and I have loved it ever since.

I can only recall how skeptical my parents were when my brother and I first asked them for a puppy. Whether it was because of the responsibilities that a dog implied, us being so young or simply because we “didn’t have time for a dog.”

In fact, we didn’t have the time to train or look after a dog but our desire for a smaller and furrier friend allowed us to prove our parents wrong- we found the time and it was a few weeks after, that we finally got our newest member of the family, Jack.

It was shortly after that, that we all realized the blessing of becoming a dog owner and the amazing company that would stick around for a while.

When Jack first walked into our family, he was a month old. Now, he will soon be turning 5 years old. It’s been almost five years and now that I am older, I realize the things that bringing a dog into our family taught me.

Teach responsibility to the younger members in the family.

Whether you’re helping your kids potty-train your pup or taking him or her out for a walk, this can be the perfect way to teach kids how responsibilities work and the consequences that may follow. Let’s face it, no one likes to find traces after a good meal in the living room.

Sooth out the house environment.

It’s true. Regardless of having kids in the household or not, a dog can help soothe out the negative vibes in it. Dogs sense the vibes of their family members. This means that you’ll never find yourself going through a rough time on your own because they're always there to keep you comfort. They work as stress relievers since having their fur close to you to play with will drive you away from any of your worries.

Teach the importance of loyalty.

It is a fact that you will never truly understand the meaning behind the famous quote, “A dog is man’s best friend” until you own one. Dog’s are tremendously smart but, they have a short-term memory when it comes to recalling a bad encounter against their owner. Regardless of how much you screamed at them over chewing your shoe or peeing in the house, they are always there to continue being your best friend and will never, ever deny you a proof of love. They will always have your back.

There is always someone waiting for you at home.

Having someone waiting for you at home is amazing, yet seeing your pup running after you when they see you come in through that door is twice as good.

You will never eat alone again.

Whether you feed them dog food or regular food, they’ll always be by your side… even if they're just waiting for you to toss them a piece of anything that's on your plate. It’s always a great feeling to have someone by your side.

They become your confidants.

Yes, I know a dog can’t give you advice over something that you’re talking to them about but, they are great listeners. It makes you look like you’re crazy but they say that it’s always good to let your thoughts out and you know that they’ll never judge you.

Their love is UNCONDITIONAL.

Dogs become a great addition to your family. Anyone who has experience with one will agree that they are essential for many things, but most importantly they become a best friend. They tag along with you whenever you ask them to do so and your love slowly but surely grows for them. Soon, you'll find yourself feeling for them and their well-being becomes your priority. They are a great companionship, loyal and faithful to their owners.

A dog can do a lot for an individual as well as for a family. Though there are a few things to take into consideration before choosing to buy a dog, such as the space in the house and possible health related issues (allergies), there are things that can come along with a pup that can make your life better.

So, if you’re debating whether to bring a dog into your family or not, don’t just consider the responsibilities that come along and remember that at the end of the day, you'd always have someone wagging it’s tail and waiting for you at home to share lots of love.

And through this experience I can tell you, it will be the best decision you will make in your life.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
