So, if you're like me, you have the worst possible luck when it comes to phones. Whether it's from completely cracking it to the point that the LED light are shot to putting it in a cup of soda to not even cracking it or anything and it just becoming completely broken. Though there are obviously downsides to not having a phone — but there are definitely some upsides, too.

The downsides:

1. Not being able to get Snapchats:

Everyone is sending you snaps of where they are or something funny they're doing and you can't even see it. So when you finally get your phone fixed you missed the funny jokes or pictures that aren't even funny anymore.

2. Getting texts two hours after it was sent:

If you're lucky like I am, you'll have a Mac that allows you to text and iMessage people, but only when your connected to the spotty internet that everyone with an electronic attached to it. And it's not like you can always have your computer with you so you get texts 2 hours after they were relevant.

3. Trying to contact people via GroupMe:

Though you need the internet (which we've gone over is spotty) you can access GroupMe, but like text messages you get them late and you're either responding late to things that are important, which hopefully doesn't end up biting you in the butt later.

4. Getting yelled at for not answering calls:

From not answering your Mom's 5 calls because you can't see who is calling or friends calling to find out where you are so they can come hang out. You can't answer because you have no clue who is calling and you don't want to answer the phone to some weird calling the wrong number and you not knowing. (Happened to me so I just stopped answering when my phone rings because my screen completely blacked out.)

5. Not knowing the time while walking around:

If you're not a watch wearer, like I. Walking around without a phone is slightly stressful and 100% nerve-racking. You don't know what time it is exactly and you pray your not late for class because you don't know exactly how long it taking you to get to class, or to get food before class.

6. Waiting for the replacement phone like:

The upsides:

1. Not having to worry about losing it:

When you can't even use it correctly so there is no point in bringing it around when you go out. So there is no possible way you can leave it anywhere or lose it while being out with your friends.

2. Not having to charge it:

Because the usage of the phone is minimal the battery lasts forever and you don't really need to worry that it isn't charged because you won't be using it for anyways. So not having to be like:

3. Not being worried about checking social media every ten minutes:

Not like you can go onto Snap, Insta, Twitter, Facebook, etc. so you won't waste 45 minutes going through your timelines to see what people you see everyday did the night before, or tweeted the night before.

4. Out of sight out of mind:

Just completely forgetting your phone even exists. Until you start looking for because you think you left it somewhere and you have a mini heart attack but then realize that your phone broken and you don't use it.

The downsides defiantly out weight the upsides. And I'm not gonna sugarcoat that not having a phone sucks. But it's definitely not a life ending event. But we do know when we get the at new phone after the broken one get replace we feel like we've reach heaven, until the next phone breaking event happens and its starts all over again.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
