Yeah, it hurts. But that boy that just broke your heart? He’s not worth it.

It doesn’t matter if you had been together for three years or three months; if a boy decides to exit your life, it’s going to hurt. Even if he tries to do it in a sensible manner, it won’t take away the pain.

You are strong. You can get through this.

They say that time heals everything, and this is completely true. Hearing this won’t really help, but you will see the truth in it when this is all over. When you’ve won the battle, climbed the mountain, and conquered the heartbreak.

As “time” takes its sweet time passing, there are things you can do to get through it easier.

First, find a hobby. Rediscover your passions. This could be writing, painting or even exercising. Find something you thoroughly enjoy and take your mind off things. Lose yourself in your work, whatever that may be.

Then, read a good book. Find something that sparks your interests and lose yourself in its pages. Books have the ability to take you far from where you are and to give your mind an adventure to discover. The therapeutic qualities of reading are far too underestimated.

Surround yourself with your loved ones. Friends and family will be there for you, especially during the hard times. Lean on them for support and comfort. Have a movie night with your mom, ice cream and all—and don’t you dare feel guilty for the extra calories. Go shopping or have a night out with the girls. There are so many ways to take your mind off things in the presence of friends and family.

Finally, cry. Let all the tears out. Don’t be afraid to sit down with a playlist of sad songs and feel everything. He hurt you, and there’s nothing wrong with acknowledging that. Eventually, you’ll find that less and less pain and tears are there. This will come with time, and once it comes it will be the best feeling.

Breakups suck. There’s no easy way to say it, and definitely no easy way to go through one. But, as they say, time heals everything. Eventually, you’ll be okay again.

He didn’t deserve you. You are strong, and you will get through this.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
