Hey, you. Yes, YOU. Listen up, I am going to tell you something important that you do not always hear but should: you do not owe anyone an explanation.
Let me repeat that one more time: you do not owe anyone an explanation. You don't. You don't need to tell people why you dyed your hair. Or why you like that one boy. Or why you decided to dress up and do your makeup. Or why you do things that you do. You do not always need to explain yourself.
I get it. There might be things that do need an explanation. You might have to tell your mom why you need to borrow some money or why you came home in the middle of the night. You definitely have to explain to your teacher why you missed class, so you can make up the quiz you missed on that day. You should let your best friend know why you have not been replying to her texts for the past hour. It would also be the nice thing to do if you explain to your grandparents why you haven't called them.
But, sometimes, you do not need to give a reason why you do something. It is understandable to stay in on a Friday night and not tell your friends why. You need to have a night for yourself every once in awhile. It is also fine to get all dolled up on a random day without having to justify yourself. You can look pretty for no reason and, most importantly, for no one. And, who cares if you are in fact actually trying to get a certain boy's attention? You do you, girl. It is your life, your choice. You are not here to constantly explain to people why you decide to do things. You should not feel like you owe anyone an explanation. You are free to do whatever you want without being required to tell everyone why.
That being said, you should also understand that there will be times that you do not get the explanation you want from people. That is okay. Not everything needs a reason. You know that saying "some things are better left unsaid"? It is true. It may be for the best. Of course, you will be disappointed, frustrated, angry, you name it. It is understandable to feel those emotions. No one wants to be left hanging. We all deserve a proper closure in order to move on, at least that is what we have gotten used to believing. Here's the thing, you may not always get it your way. It is not going to work out the way you want it to. You just have to accept it and continue with your life. It is better not to dwell on it forever because you can use that time to do better things, such as meeting new people and enjoying life more.
