A brain, an athlete, a basket case, a princess, and a criminal. The Breakfast Club, written by John Hughes in 1985, will forever always be an absolute classic. If you haven't seen it, please, please do yourself and watch it. I am a firm believer that this movie will always and forever be relevant, and here are some quotes to prove that.
"We're all pretty bizarre. Some of us are just better at hiding it, that's all."
"You ought to spend a little more time trying to make something of yourself and a little less time trying to impress people."
"Screws fall out all the time, the world is an imperfect place."
"Well, if you say you haven't, you're a prude. If you say you have, you're a slut. It's a trap. You want to but you can't, and when you do you wish you didn't, right?"
"You do everything everyone tells you to do and that is a problem."
"I guess we are who we are for a lot of reasons. And maybe we'll never know most of them."
Opening narration - "Dear Mr. Vernon, we accept the fact that we had to sacrifice a whole Saturday in detention for whatever it was we did wrong. What we did *was* wrong. But we think you're crazy to make us write an essay telling you who we think we are. What do you care? You see us as you want to see us - in the simplest terms, in the most convenient definitions. You see us as a brain, an athlete, a basket case, a princess and a criminal. Correct? That's the way we saw each other at 7:00 this morning. We were brainwashed."
Closing narration - " Dear Mr. Vernon, we accept the fact that we had to sacrifice a whole Saturday in detention for whatever it was we did wrong. But we think you're crazy to make us write an essay telling you who we think we are. You see us as you want to see us - in the simplest terms, in the most convenient definitions. But what we found out is that each one of us is a brain, and an athlete, and a basket case, a princess, and a criminal. Does that answer your question? Sincerely yours, the Breakfast Club."
