Masculinity is like a fire. If you feed the fire, such as continuing to burn the wood in the pit to keep the flame ignited, it'll grow bigger and stronger. If you don't provide what the fire needs, it goes out. Who determines the masculinity of another though? Is it when your "bro" gives you a crisp high five after you get the girl you've lusted over, or is it your dad when he tells you, "I'm proud of you," after you shoot the winning basket at the big game?
What about the guys who are determined not manly enough to stick around the "bros." Since when was it not okay for a boy to admire a beautiful rose, for a boy to admire every pedal as it softly opens up from the center after growing all season long to become one of the most admirable things in the world. How can anyone take the beauty of nature away from someone who isn't supposed to like flowers, because they're for the girl you're supposed to win over, because of the lust you have had for her for a month. Since when was it not okay for a boy to be so involved with music that sports are not a priority in their life. How can anyone take the beauty of beautiful melodies combining with harmonies in order to produce their hidden secrets of their passion for drawing, and their hope to be loved?
Boys are meant to be loved and cared for, just as much as girls. The idea of a man showing even a little ounce of submission causes their friends to snicker at them and even degrade them for having a basic human emotion. Why has it been okay to shove the feelings of a male to the side? They do so much good in the world, they deserve to have some slack because ladies I promise you one day you'll come across the perfect man just for you, and even if he draws landscapes in his free time I promise his love is just as good, and just as worth it.
Flowers don't grow for the purpose of winning over the girl, they grow to show beauty in small bits and pieces. Flowers grow so they can fulfill the needs of the bees, and fulfill the balance of nature. Just like flowers, boys are around to fulfill the balance of society, because boys, too, spread beauty in the world. Even if it's in small doses, it still makes a huge impact on every member in society. Without the boys who like to admire the pedals on flowers, we wouldn't have an equal balance in the world.
So, on your way out, don't forget to stop and smell the roses.
