The bright lights of the city—New York City, of course—has filled your heart with joy since you were a little kid. You can’t do much better than a New York slice or pizza or a smear of crème cheese on a classic bagel, but something about the South has started to call your name. You have started to live by the motto, “Well dressed and Southern Blessed” or “Southern Mess,” it really depends on the day. You know the difference between the south rednecks and the Southern Elite. And the Lilly wearing, monogram freak you are has never been happier than when you're down in the south.
1. Sweeter than sweet tea.
Not only do you love to sip your overly sweet tea on a white wrap around porch, but when you are served the tea by a sweet southern boy or gal your heart flutters. The “Yes Ma’am’s” and “Thank you Misses,” will never get old.
2. Slower than molasses.
Everything is slower in the south. The days are warmer, the nights longer, and the conversations deeper. It wouldn’t be a shame to lay on the beach all day soaking up the sun, or sitting on a porch swing holding a conversation for the afternoon.
3. Cuter than a button.
You would be lying if you said you didn’t fall in love with the southern scenery. I’m looking at you Charleston, South Carolina. Between the cobble streets, palm trees, and pastel painted homes, the south just does it better. Not to mention, you can watch the white tops of the waves crash as dig your toes into the sand.
4. Did someone say Lilly?
You could be in a sorority or not, but Lilly Pulitzer and Jack Roger make your heart flutter. You can’t deny it—you would spend your entire paycheck on a Lilly Dress if you didn’t have to pay rent. 10 dollars extra to monogram it? Sign me up!
5. Gaining 10 pounds.
Forget LA and kale smoothies, the south has you covered with biscuits, chicken, and hush puppies. It may not be the healthiest food but it’s called comfort food for a reason. There is something special about a home cooked southern meal. Paula Dean loves butter so you can too.
