Some cities have much more to offer than others. This may mean they have more events that take place there, better shopping sites, or even a better variety of food.

Then, there are cities that can become very boring very fast. This does not mean that this city doesn't have a lot to offer because every city is unique in their own way, but it does mean you can run out of things to do more quickly than others. In my opinion, Lexington, Kentucky is one of those cities.

I have lived in Lexington going on three years now, and I can most definitely say that it is a college town.

When school is not in session, your options on things to do are very limited. Every day, you are trying to find something new to do or to see, and it can become quite difficult after a week.

From August to May, however, there is always something going on. The population rapidly increases once it hits August because everyone from all over the country slowly begins to travel back for school to start up again. Sports begin their seasons and even more people travel from all over the world to watch if Kentucky has what it takes this year to be number one.

People sometimes ask me what there is to do in Lexington when nothing is going on or how to stay busy. My response to them is to find something around your house or apartment that you could decorate or renovate and put your time into doing that, go do something you haven't done in a long time, like playing a round of golf, or teach yourself something new.

Those three things are what got me through an entire summer in Lexington without being so bored that I go crazy. Yes, there are much more things that one can do in Lexington, but those three things I stated do not cost a person a fortune. There are many things to do that do not cost money, you just have to search for them.

There will be days where there is absolutely nothing to do, and that's okay.

Do not get into a funk and think it will be like this forever because it won't. Summer is a time for you to relax and have fun. You worked so hard during the school year that you deserve to have a little time off doing nothing.

Meeting new people is another great way to get out of your state of boredom.

Exploring places you have never been before or trying foods you have never had before is what makes memorable moments. Life is not all about money and spending it all in one place, it is about living in the moment and doing things you have never done before.

That is what makes life worth living and your city fun.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
