Reading is probably my favorite activity in the world. I don't mind sitting for hours, tearing through book after book, experiencing each new adventure. My favorite time to read is when it's raining. I sit on my porch swing with a stack of books on the floor and my cup of iced tea is never empty. So I thought that I would share some of my favorite rainy day reads with all of you, in an effort to enlighten you of the joys of rain day reading!

So,what makes the best book for a rainy day? Three things: adventure, can make me smile, and romance. These aspects are very important to stave off the chill of a summer rain, while complementing the soothing aesthetic. Each of the books that I've chosen make me smile, and they can be boiled down to either romance or adventure, but they contain both. I haven't listed these in any particular order of favoritism, but I will tell you that Susan Dennard is my favorite author. I've also included the main genre of the book underneath the small synopsis, as well as a star rating. These are some of my absolute favorite books that I would recommend 100 times again and again. "The Statistical Probability of Falling in Love at First Sight" by Jennifer E. Smith

Two strangers meet in the crowded JFK airport and spend their shared flight to London falling in love.

Romance, 4 stars

"Truthwitch" by Susan Dennard

"Avatar the Last Airbender" with more magic and no Avatar, but still the same amount of feminism.

Adventure, 5 stars

"Charlie, Presumed Dead" by Anne Heltzel

Charlie two-times both his girlfriends and they meet at his funeral, then proceed to discover terrifying secrets about themselves and their boyfriend.

Adventure, 4 stars

"My Name is Memory" by Ann Brashares

A reincarnation love story in which only Daniel can remember every past life, and spends each new life finding and falling in love with Lucy again.

Romance, 4 stars

"A Thousand Pieces of You" by Claudia Gray

Marguerite must alternate dimension travel to find her father's killer, encountering versions of herself and the boy she thought she loved.

Equal balance of Adventure and Romance, 5 stars
