Bold Character Predictions For 'Civil War'

The wait is almost over. The week is finally here. "Captain America: Civil War" will hit theaters later this week, and with it will come plenty of superhero vs. superhero action. The action is sure to be explosive and the stories will unfold on so many levels.

With so many characters in the film, it has been billed as Avengers 2.5 in a sense, but everything I have read suggests that this is truly a Captain America film. Also, it sounds like every character gets enough of the spotlight and no one gets totally short-changed like Hawkeye did back in "The Avengers."

But with all of these characters, someone will certainly be the show-stealer. Another will have the emotional death. Another will be set up for a future film. Bottom line is, everyone will leave this film with some reason to talk about them. So without further ado, let's get to it, with a bold prediction for all major characters, starting with team Iron Man.

War Machine

Rhodey lives to see another day (movie): Ever since the first trailer, everyone has been speculating that this would be Rhodey's last film, which is understandable given the grim situation he appears to be in after he is supposedly shot out of the sky. He seems to have suffered some serious damage to the arc reactor in his suit, causing his massive fall to the ground.

This fall appears to leave War Machine fighting for his life. While it will likely be touch and go for a while for good ol' Rhodey, it is this very misdirection that makes me believe he makes it. Marvel is almost making it too obvious that he should die, therefore the real surprise will be when he pulls through and lives to see Thanos in a few years.

Also one subtle thing I noticed Don Cheadle mention during an interview with Jimmy Kimmel, which could hint to this very result - they were talking about how Cheadle stays on set even when the mask goes down, while Robert Downey Jr. can leave the set when his mask is down. Cheadle said something to the effect of "maybe we can work something out for the next one." It was very subtle and no one really seemed to pick up on it, but Cheadle may have very well let the cat out of the bag.

Black Widow

Does not turn her back on team Stark: When the advertisements for the film were first released, one member of team Stark really stood out and had people scratching their heads. That was the inclusion of Black Widow in support of Tony Stark and pro-registration.

Black Widow has long been depicted as a lone wolf-type personality who will usually be out for her own self interest. She got her start in the MCU in "Iron Man 2," but was an even more integral part of "Captain America: The Winter Soldier." It seemed her relationship with Cap really grew in that film, and most would definitely say she is closer to him than Tony.

With all of that, plus the fact that she is a former Russian spy with plenty of secrets, it was hard to believe she would support registration and oppose Cap. This led to a popular fan theory that she would be a double agent, and only on Team Stark as a Team Cap informant. However, I am here to say that will not be the case.

Any secrets she had would have been released with the fall of S.H.I.E.L.D, therefore the registration may not be as big of a deal to Black Widow than initially expected. During the trailers she seems sympathetic to Cap, but based on clips of a phone call she has with him, it seems to be more of "stay away and do not get in trouble" as opposed to "here is some information." Clearly she still cares for Cap, but it looks like she firmly believes registration is what is best for herself in the long run.

Vision

Gives up on humanity by film's end: Vision is one of the more interesting characters in the film, partially because he is in possession of an infinity stone, and partially because he is not human. He is clearly behind Tony, not only because he created him, but also because he stands behind the more logical side of the argument. Coming up with a prediction for a character like this was quite difficult.

He is not going to die. I find it hard to see him switching sides. So I thought back on a conversation he has at the end of "Avengers: Age of Ultron" with the evil robot Ultron. During the conversation Ultron states humans are doomed, and Vision agrees. He acknowledged that he knows humanity will not last. The film leaves it open as to if Vision actually killed Ultron. I believe he simply captured Ultron within the infinity stone in his forehead, thus meaning Ultron is essentially living with Vision, as is his mindset.

After taking part in a big battle of people who are supposed to be friends, Vision will realize the end is near. With this he will turn his back on humanity. He will leave the Earth behind and head for space. This could lead to a possible appearance in the next Thor film, or possibly save him for an encounter with Thanos.

Black Panther

Will have the best fight of the film: Based on the trailers alone, one thing is for sure: Black Panther is going to be amazing. He is clearly a phenomenal specimen, outrunning Captain America in one clip. We have seen bits and pieces of him fighting Cap and Bucky. Both of those fights promise to be awesome.

With his fighting skills and style (based on what we have seen), I feel pretty good saying he will have the best fight in the movie. I would guess that fight will be the one he has with Bucky. Add in his vibranium suit and the possibilities of what could happen are endless. Look for lots of cool action from Black Panther in this one.

Spider-Man

Steals every scene he is in, becomes instant fan favorite: Finally, a Peter Parker who legitimately looks like he should be in high school. Sure, I enjoyed both of the previous takes on the character, but now that he is back with Marvel, my hopes for everyone's favorite web slinger are sky high.

At first it was believed Spidey would only get a cameo type of appearance in this one. Since the film was screened for critics, word came out he was in about thirty minutes or so of the film, and in the entire big fight scene. That is clearly more than a cameo, and that means enough of Spidey for the audience to get a true feel for Tom Holland playing the character.

That will be enough to sell everyone who is skeptical that Tom Holland is the right man for the job, and will be the last man to wear the suit for years to come. From the commercial clips he has been in, it appears they are going with the right approach. He comes across as a kid who says what's on his mind, and he is going to make your face hurt from laughing so much.

Iron Man

Has the chance to kill Cap, but does not: We know Iron Man and Captain America will go toe to toe in the film. They are going to exchange quite a few punches in the process.

The final battle between the two is sure to pull at true Marvel fans' emotions. These are the two characters this franchise has been built on. Seeing them slug it out will have fans begging for them to stop so they can get back to being a team.

But things are going to get dark. During the final battle, after taking Winter Soldier out of the equation, Tony is going to have a chance to end things once and for all. He is going to have Cap down, and he will be one or two blows away from ending it. This is where Tony will come to the realization that this is not worth his friend's life. No matter what he believes, he knows his friends should not die as a result. This will lead to the friends coming to a compromise, in which they form a new, non-government organization, to govern superheroes (The Illuminati).

Crossbones

Typical throwaway villain, killed off in the first scene: This is a story for the heroes, not the villains. So sure, there are going to be baddies in the film, but they will take a bit of a backseat. Unfortunately for Crossbones, that will mean one awesome scene that ends with his demise.

The film will open with Crossbones and his cronies wrecking havoc on a small town. This will lead to the Avengers stepping in to stop him. Crossbones has a bone to pick with a few of them, as he views them as the reason for the burns he suffered at the end of "Captain America: The Winter Soldier."

So after going up against the likes of Cap and Falcon, he will be taken down, and he will not be walking away from the battle. He will not go down alone, however, taking as many people as he can with him. This event will be one of the triggers that lead to the government wanting to implement the Sokovia Accords. However, that won't do Crossbones any good, as he will be gone from the MCU for good.

Zemo

His story will closely revolve around the Winter Soldier: The largest mystery about the film revolves around Baron Zemo. What role will he play? How big of an influence will he have on the events? Is he simply here to serve as a bridge to a future film? So many question and no answers.

Zemo has barely even shown up in the trailers and commercials, with only maybe two quick shots of the character. So there is no information to go off from the film itself to make an informed prediction.

So I am going with the Hydra link. Zemo is very likely to be attached to Hydra, who is responsible for the Winter Soldier. Zemo will be monitoring Bucky throughout the film, and the two will be very closely linked as the films progress.

Hawkeye

Furthers his role as Scarlet Witch's mentor: In "Avengers: Age of Ultron," it was Hawkeye who was responsible for bringing Scarlet Witch to the good side. He served as a sort of mentor for her before retiring at the end of the film.

So why does he come out of retirement so soon? The fact that he is on the same side as Scarlet Witch likely plays a huge part in that decision. Maybe she feels like she cannot control her powers. This leads to Cap calling upon Hawkeye to step back into the fold and help tutor Scarlet Witch along the way.

Since he has no real superpowers, he is not likely to be a major part of any major battles, so his main role will be to help another character grow. The relationship is already there, and Quicksilver died to save him, meaning he owes Scarlet Witch in a sense. So we can expect Hawkeye to resume his role of teacher.

Agent 13 (Sharon Carter)

Plays a double agent of sorts: Sharon is related to Peggy, who is Cap's love interest from the old days before he was put in ice. It seems very likely that they will explore some sort of relationship between Cap and Sharon. It would seem she is an easy pick for Team Cap.

However, while doing some press rounds, Agent 13 was going around with members of Team Iron Man. So what's the deal? My best guess is she will open the film in favor of registration, placing her on the side of Tony. However, as the film goes on, she realizes her heart is with Cap, and cannot stand on the opposing side. She may stay on Team Stark for a bit, but only to serve as an informant for Cap.

Scarlet Witch

Delivers the shot that almost costs Rhodey his life: Scarlet Witch is one of the most interesting characters in the film. She is a young hero still learning to channel her powers and what she can do. As I stated earlier, I believe she will need more mentoring from Hawkeye.

I believe she will hit a true low-point in the film. During the key battle, she will release a power pulse that knocks War Machine right out of the air, causing major damage to his suit. This will lead to his major fall, and major injury.

This will be a traumatic event for Scarlet Witch, as she will think she just killed Rhodey. This will be when she will need some serious mentoring from Hawkeye. Their relationship will grow and he will coach her through the difficult time. She will want to walk away from any superpower-related activities, when Hawkeye will talk her out of it, telling her the world needs people with her kind of gifts.

Antman

Will have the funniest line in the film: Antman is a laugh machine, mainly thanks to Paul Rudd. Having an actor like Rudd portray a character called Antman tells you all you need to know. He is going to have some hilarious quotes in this film, like any film he appears in.

He is a good bet to win the award for best quote in the entire film. I would guess this will come in an interaction with Spider-Man, another jokester.

Falcon

Given a shot with Cap's shield to tease future (like Bucky in Winter Solider): In the comics, there are several characters that take the mantle of Captain America when Steve Rogers dies. Two of those characters are Bucky and Falcon.

During "Captain America: The Winter Soldier", there was a shot of Bucky holding the Cap's shield in a very heroic looking pose. It was a quick shot, but enough for people to talk about it as a cool easter egg that may forshadow the future of the MCU.

While Bucky is likely to eventually get the shield, it would be a nice touch to have a similar quick shot with Falcon holding it. Falcon and Cap will have plenty of scenes working together, so an exchange of the shield for a brief moment is certainly doable. So keep a close eye out for this potential easter egg!

Winter Soldier (Bucky)

Set up to appear in Black Panther's solo film: This film promises to feature plenty of Bucky, as he has ties to many other characters. Cap appears on a mission to help clear Bucky's name from past wrong doing. Their relationship is sure to be a key theme throughout the film. He will also likely be "competing" with Falcon to be Cap's right hand man. Then the mysterious Zemo, like mentioned earlier, is most likely going to be tied to Bucky as well.

Finally, there is Black Panther. Every sign points to Black Panther's involvement in the film is to hunt down Winter Soldier. This is likely because Bucky will be blamed for an event that leads to the death of Black Panther's father. So he will be out for revenge and hunting down Bucky.

However when all is said and done, I expect the two to clear the air and actually become close allies. Winter Soldier is the type of character that can easily appear in other MCU films. So if Bucky and Black Panther form some form of relationship by the end of the film, it can set up a team up in Black Panther's film. Not only would this be a surprise turn of events, but also add some extra intrigue and another layer to that film. Having the two work together is an appealing thought. So while they may start out enemies, look for the two to be headed for a team out moving forward.

Captain America

Dies at the hands of Zemo: Speculation has been rampant that Cap's death could be imminent, ever since this film was announced to follow the Civil War story-line. The question remains however, if Cap does die, who will be responsible.

For a while I thought Cap would actually give his life when Bucky tries kill Tony. This would lead to Bucky and Tony both having to live with a lot of guilt. But then my idea changed, and saw both men walk away from the final battle against one another. Tony and Cap would come to the compromise to form the Illuminati, which would be a group of heroes who would meet with no government oversight.

The first meeting of the group would be held, with the members being Ironman, Cap, Black Panther, Vision and Black Widow. Cap would be elected the head of the organization. At the conclusion of the meeting, Cap will depart the building. This is where he will be gunned down by Zemo. The film would end with Cap motionless on the ground, blood surrounding him. This would be sure to leave plenty of intrigue moving forward within the MCU.

So there you have it. With so many characters in a film it may seem hard to give them all some attention, but that is what this film will aim to do. I expect it to be the best Marvel film to date, and one that will have a major impact going forward for the MCU. The wait is almost over, ladies and gentleman, Only a few more days.

So do you agree with my bold predictions? Do you have any of your own? Tell us in the comments!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
